Kelly Dodd of The Real Housewives of Orange County has been making headlines lately for her political views and the pandemic. Her opinions have received major backlash and her future on the Bravo series is still up in the air. However, what’s not up in the air, is her association with Positive Beverage. The latter just confirmed they have parted ways with Dodd over her “global views.”

Why did Kelly Dodd get fired?

Over the weekend, Dodd shared on her Instagram Stories enjoying dinner with friends at a restaurant indoors. Dodd was celebrating that the California governor had lifted the stay-at-home order. While sharing the video a person in the background is heard yelling “super-spreader,” which Dodd and her friends echoed in ecstasy.

After the video went viral online, Positive Beverage took action and released a statement informing they had parted ways with Dodd.

“We welcome all people — however they are and whatever they are passionate about — to Positive Beverage,” CEO Shannon Argyros said in a statement posted on Instagram. “There must always be an underlying layer of respect. Unfortunately, we feel Kelly’s stance is no longer congruent with our core values.”

The company’s CEO said they appreciated Dodd’s contribution to getting the brand known but they “do not align with her opinions or global views.”

Head of Brand, Zack Muchnick also released a statement adding, “Our core values of wellness, community, diversity, and inclusion should be reflected by our brand and anyone associated with it. It has become clear over the past few months that Kelly’s controversial views and opinions have distracted from our primary objectives, so effective today, we are no longer affiliated with Kelly Dodd-Leventhal.”

Following the statement released by Positive Beverage, Dodd released a statement of her own on Twitter.

“I’m glad I could help put Positive Beverage on the map and wish them well,” Dodd said. “I’m also really excited about my next venture in the beauty industry, which is my real passion. Stay tuned!”

Dodd, who heavily promoted Positive Beverage on RHOC, didn’t seemed too bothered by the distance set by the brand. She teased that she was working on something new within the beauty industry and promised fans to stay tuned. It still remains up in the air if she will return to the Bravo series and have the opportunity to promote the brand on the show.

Following the RHOC Season 15 reunion, it was evident there was a bad relationship between Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke. Dodd took to Instagram Live to share with fans that she wouldn’t want to return to the show if her co-star also came back.

“I know I cannot film with Braunwyn, I know for a fact that I cannot film with her, there’s just no way,” Dodd said in an Instagram Live video captured by Queens of Bravo. “If she comes back then I’m out because I know for a fact that I cannot [film with her]. She’s dangerous and calling people racists and homophobic.”

As of now, Bravo has not confirmed which housewives will return for season 16 which is expected to start filming in the coming weeks.
