Bravo has also shaken up a lot of casts to rid them of veterans who had become problematic. One veteran who did not receive a callback is Dorinda Medley.

Dorinsa Medley is on a pause

RHONY Season 12 was packed full of drama, and the leading culprit was Medley. While Bravo encourages women to entertain with engaging storylines and drama, Medley took it over the top. Throughout the season, she was unhappy with Tinsley Mortimer. She asked Mortimer, who has frozen embryos if she would like to use her turkey baster. Medley also accused Mortimer of faking her story.

Medley attributes some of her season 12 behavior to personal problems. She was recovering from a flooded house, a broken relationship, and her father dying. In retrospect, Medley reflects that she probably should have skipped filming her last season.

In light of her situation, Bravo did not ask Medley to return to RHONY for season 13. They did not fire her. Instead, they told her they were putting her on a pause.

A book deal

Despite not having a role on season 13 of RHONY, Medley has stayed very busy. After not receiving an invite from Bravo, Medley spent time at her home in the Berkshires. While there, Simon & Schuster approached her concerning a book deal. Medley contemplated the deal and decided it was the right time. She decided to accept the offer and wrote her book, Make it Nice

In an interview on Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino, available on Stitcher, Medley explained her decision and approach to writing her book by saying:

“It’s time to make the shift. It’s time to apply myself, distract myself, be in that moment. As terrible as COVID is or was in quarantine, it did allow us a beautiful time to reflect … I treated it like a job every day. I really decided early on to — I wanted to have it read like people could hear my voice.”

Pellegrino went on to question Medley on whether or not she regretted writing the book considering she is famous for the line “Say it, forget it. Write it, regret it.” Dorinda answered him, saying:

“How ironic. I’m not a big regretter. You know that from the TV. I sort of put it all out there and let people love me, hate me, have opinions, and sort of keep it moving. I don’t know if I regret it because whatever I said was true … I try to be very respectful, especially in the parts where I’m talking about Richard, to make sure I did it from my point of view and not involve the children because I really think that journey is theirs to tell and not mine … That was really the hardest part of the book for me to write. Truly I knew it was coming.”
