Ramona Singer from The Real Housewives of New York City seems to be the center of controversy during season 12. The Bravo star introduced Elyse Slaine to viewers this season as a “friend of” after appearing as a guest seasons ago. After the show aired a brand new episode though, the friendship of the reality series stars might have been fractured.

Why is Elyse Slaine upset?

RHONY took a brief break and returned to Bravo on Thursday, July 2. During the episode Singer’s daughter, Avery is heard in the background seemingly shading Slaine.

“Mom, stop wasting your energy talking about Elyse,” Avery is heard saying as Singer does her confessional from quarantine. “I hear you tell all your friends. You can’t get enough of it. It’s like annoying.”

When Slaine watched the episode along with fans, she was confused as to why Avery would talk about her in that manner. Slaine took to Twitter to reveal that she “always liked Avery” and even helped her land her dream job.

“That’s why I was trying to figure out as well. I always liked Avery, and pushed my husband to be hands-on to mentor her, and to use his connections to get her the job she wanted. I wish her well,” Slaine tweeted.

Some fans didn’t think Avery was being Shady but rather standing up to Slaine, but the latter is not convinced.

“I hope so, but no one seems to think that,” she said in another tweet. “The consensus is that she was being disrespectful. I hope you are right, and everyone else is wrong. I still think Avery as the little girl who use to do sleepovers with my daughter.”

Ramona Singer shades Elyse Slaine

The animosity between Singer and Slaine has been brewing for a while. Singer recently shaded Slaine during an interview saying she didn’t bring much to the show.

“I don’t think she really brings anything with the mix,” Singer said on People Now. “I think you can see she doesn’t really fit in.”

People have to remember that Singer and Slaine had been friends for many years off the show. After Bethenny Frankel and Tinsley Mortimer left RHONY, Bravo might have thought it was good to introduce a new friend for the show. Slaine came in to fill a void in the cast, but Singer says she’s not an official cast member.

“I didn’t know really what to think. I just thought ‘OK, we always love to add new people as a possible friend.’ She didn’t even make it as a friend. Bravo doesn’t even call her a friend,” Singer also said.

Singer’s comments took Slaine by surprise as she revealed during an interview with Heavy.

“I was very surprised,” Slaine said. “Kept our falling out quiet, and even when I was asked about her when I was interviewed with Us Weekly, and other magazines and podcasts, I always was very positive about Ramona. I was very surprised that she disparaged me publicly.”

As of right now, Slaine and Singer are still not friendly and the former doesn’t know the exact reasons of their fallout.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
