Launn de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York City has made it a point on the show to stay sober. The Countess has been laying off the alcohol since getting arrested in Florida after an altercation with a police officer. Filming the Bravo reality series has made it hard for the “Feelin’ Jovani” hitmaker to maintain her sobriety, but what about quarantine?

The Countess gets candid with her sobriety

De Lesseps has been open about her struggles with staying sober. Following an incident with authorities in Florida, she had to sober up while on probation. Filming RHONY while not drinking was not an easy task for the “Money Can’t Buy You Class” singer.

“I wouldn’t say pressure, you just feel like you’re kind of, non-included, you kind of feel like, you know, you’re out of the group somehow,” de Lesseps told Us Weekly. “And so I thought, you know what, I’m going to drink.”

However, during season 12 of RHONY, De Lesseps allowed herself to let loose a little bit. There were a couple of occasions where the reality series star was seen drinking on-camera.

“I made that decision and, you know, so did Leah [McSweeney],” she revealed. “And sometimes we handle it better than others to say, ‘We still have a while to go.’”

Although many would believe that De Lesseps returning to drinking while in quarantine, she told the publication she has remained sober throughout.

“I’m so glad during quarantine to not have to deal with drinking,” she added. “I feel like if I was drinking during quarantine, I’d be drinking a lot.”

Does Luann de Lesseps still talk to Bethenny Frankel?

At the beginning of season 12 of RHONY, the ladies found out that Bethenny Frankel was leaving the show. The latter was one of the few friends that came to de Lesseps’s rescue when she got into legal trouble. It was Frankel that helped the star during that difficult process.

However, their friendship didn’t last too long as de Lesseps shifted her attention to her cabaret show. Frankel felt that de Lesseps was not acknowledging her issue to work it out.

Late last year, de Lesseps said that she found out that Frankel was leaving the Bravo show just like everyone else, through the press.

“You know, Bethenny has been replaced,” de Lesseps told ET in December 2019. “Bethenny has been a huge character on the show, she’s come and gone herself from the show. So, you know, wishing her the best, as well. You know, everybody has got their life and she chose to leave, so we were all just surprised by it. We found out just like you did. So, we were kind of surprised and shocked by it. And, like I said, she’s doing her thing and wish her the best.”

De Lesseps went as far as to say that the cast was relieved that Frankel was not on the show anymore.

“I think the whole cast is relieved, in a way, and it also leaves breathing room for other women to shine and show their personalities because a lot was Bethenny coming in and kind of stealing the show,” De Lesseps said on Jenny McCarthy’s SiriusXM show

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
