‘RHOP’: Gizelle Bryant Confirms Breakup With Jamal
Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Potomac has not begun airing yet but Gizelle Bryant is spilling a little tea on her storyline. Gizelle recently confirmed that she and Jamal Bryant are no longer together. The breakup comes amid rumors of Jamal cheating, as well as a lack of support from Gizelle’s family for their rekindled romance. The former couple are also accused of faking things for the cameras.
Gizelle’s co-stars and family weren’t supportive of her reconciliation with Jamal
Gizelle and Jamal divorced due to his infidelity and having children outside of their marriage. Their children were toddlers when they split.
When they reconciled after over a decade of being divorced, their daughters were not happy about it. During season 5 of the show, Gizelle struggled to get her teenage daughters to accept their relationship.
“When we are all together, it’s just you two and us three, it’s not a full family,” Gizelle’s eldest daughter Grace told her in one episode. “We’re not saying we don’t trust you, we just want the best for you because we know what he’s done in the past.”
Her father was also not on board, noting Jamal’s “six or seven baby mamas” as the reason. But Gizelle’s co-stars had more to say.
Karen Huger and Robyn Dixon felt that Jamal did not put forth enough effort. Jamal was noticeably absent from events the other couples attended. He even missed a holiday family photoshoot in one episode.
Jamal and Gizelle Bryant were accused of faking their relationship for the show
Another reasons some co-stars, namely Monique Samuels, weren’t convinced of the Bryant’s relationship is because another woman came forward claiming that she was dating Jamal. During the season 5 reunion, Samuels claimed Jamal’s real girlfriend sent her proof.
Sauels presented screenshots she claims is from Jamal’s real girlfriend that detail exchanges between the two. One of the alleged text messages Gizelle refused to acknowledge Monique’s allegations but did confirm that the phone number on the screenshots belonged to Jamal.
Jamal took to Facebook Live to deny such, and claimed the woman was a former associate of his who was bitter over not being hired for a job she applied for to work alongside Jamal. The famous pastor also vowed to never appear on the show again, citing his disdain for reality television.
Gizelle says breakup with Jamal came as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic
The trailer for Season 6 of RHOP shows clips of Gizelle admitting to struggling with keeping her and Jamal’s long-distance relationship afloat during a global pandemic. At one point, Gizelle is in tears, seemingly over her relationship issues.
In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Gizelle confirms the two are no longer together. The revelation came when the hosts tried to compare her and Jamal’s longstanding love story to that of Gizelle’s co-star and BFF, Robyn Dixon.
“There’s an update, there’s a plot twist,” she warns.” We were working on us getting back together and being back together but he lives in Atlanta and I live In Maryland and with the pandemic, we realize it’s just not the right time. It’s just not going to work.”
But Gizelle isn’t crying a river over the breakup, noting that she’s single and ready to mingle.
“Right now I am footloose and fancy-free. I am single. I am enjoying my hot girl summer, spring, winter, and fall.”
She also maintains that the two are close friends.
“Jamal will always be in my life,” she says firmly. “He’s the father to all of my kids. We’ve been together and in each other’s lives for 25 years. He is one of my best friends and I to him. I don’t know anyone more than I know a Jamal Bryant.”
Season 6 of RHOP premieres July 11.
