‘RHOP’: Karen Huger Called Bravo After Feeling Threatened From a Candiace Dillard Bassett Text

After lines were drawn following the big fight of The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5, Karen Huger and Candiace Dillard Bassett, who once had a mother and daughter-like bond, were at odds. Things reached a fever pitch during the final part of the season’s three-part reunion as the two started yelling back and forth after Huger placed a call to Bravo after she received an alarming text from Dillard Bassett.

The major storyline of the season was the aftermath of the altercation at the winery between Monique Samuels and Dillard Bassett. The showdown split the cast as everyone took sides. Wendy Osefo, Gizelle Bryant, and Robyn Dixon sided with Dillard Bassett while Ashley Darby sided with Samuels. Huger wanted to remain friends with both Dillard Bassett and Samuels after the fight and was hopeful about everyone reaching a common ground.

Huger was the one who set up a meeting for the rest of the women to hear Samuels out right after it happened and continued to talk to her (as did Darby) in the aftermath. However, Dillard Bassett took this as Huger choosing a side, with that side being Samuels. Since then, their relationship has not been the same.

At the reunion, Dillard Bassett claimed that Huger tried to get her fired and tried to throw the blame off of Samuels and instead put the fight blame on Bryant and Dixon. After being told this, Dillard Basset texted Huger and told her to ‘burn in eternal hell.’ Huger said that she did in fact call Bravo, but it was for Dillard Bassett’s own safety as well as her own because that text message did not sound like her friend. Huger said that she did not regret calling Bravo. The two engaged in a heated back-and-forth, seemingly not being able to come to an agreement.

How will Karen Huger and Candiace Dillard Bassett move forward after this?

Right now, both Huger and Dillard Bassett are seemingly expected to return to the show. For Dillard Bassett, she doesn’t think that she and Huger can come back from what transpired.

She told Page Six, “You can say whatever it is you need to say to smooth it over, but I’m looking at your actions, because as they say, actions speak louder than words. Karen’s actions from the beginning of this toxic fight and afterwards has been very difficult to peg and trust. I don’t see how we come back from that place.”

Huger also spoke to the outlet about her situation with Dillard Bassett. “Candiace is definitely still in an emotional place as she shares her sincere feelings, that is a tough place to be,” she said. “Moving forward, learning and growing is a healthier option. I do pray she gets there.”

Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Potomac is expected to begin filming next year.
