Karen Huger, one of the only Real Housewives of Potomac stars who hasn’t picked Team Monique Samuels or Team Candiace Dillard after their explosive fight, seemingly encouraged the latter to pursue criminal action. However, Huger denied advising Dillard to press charges and claims the former Miss United States “did that on her own.”

Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard got into a physical fight

After falling out during season 4 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard attempted to fix their problems.

However, their relationship soured shortly after because the former Miss United States invited ex-housewife Charrisse Jackson Jordan to her anniversary party.

Due to rumors Jordan allegedly spread about Samuels, the mother-of-three felt betrayed because Dillard didn’t give her a heads-up. The bad blood between the former friends continued to boil until they got into a physical altercation a few weeks later at a winery.

They started arguing, and Dillard put her hands in Samuels’ face, which “triggered” the podcast host. Therefore, she pulled her former friend down by her hair and repeatedly hit Dillard on the top of the head before production members separated the two.

Huger seemingly encouraged Dillard to press charges against Samuels

A week after the fight, the mother-of-three met with the other housewives who witnessed the altercation to apologize for “putting them in harm’s way.”

While Ashley Darby and Karen Huger wanted to support Samuels, Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, and Wendy Osefo felt the podcaster should own up to her mistakes more.

However, Samuels admitted she didn’t feel remorse for the physical altercation, stunning Dixon. She informed Dillard about the meeting and told her that Samuels didn’t feel bad, upsetting the former Miss United States.

Dixon also claimed that Huger refused to hold the mother-of-three accountable for her actions, although a flashback proved that wrong. Dillard stated that she already spoke to Huger, who told the newlywed she would’ve pressed charges against Samuels if she were in the same situation.

Bryant, who heard about the conversation through Dixon, brought it up to Huger during a trip to the Grand Dame’s hometown in episode 11 of RHOP season 5. The fragrance owner claimed she would tell Samuels about the advice she gave Dillard at a later date.

Apparently, she never got around to it because the mother-of-three looked shocked when Darby tells her about it in a future episode.

Huger claims she never told Dillard to press charges

During episode 12, Dillard explained she “had no other choice” but to file a complaint against Samuels for the fight, which resulted in the court pressing second-degree assault charges.

The housewives, minus Samuels, later met up at Osefo’s sip and see and discussed her decision to go to the courts. Huger explained that she talked to Samuels and tried to encourage the mother-of-three to apologize, but Dillard felt she shouldn’t have to “coax a grown woman” to do what’s right.

Dixon asked Huger if her opinion of either party has changed due to the altercation, and she admitted it had. However, the Grand Dame didn’t want to share until they figured everything out and asked the other ladies to “respect” her position in the middle.

In a confessional, Dixon noted she felt Huger picked Samuels’ side by putting the podcaster’s feelings before Dillard. After the episode aired, one fan stated they wished she would’ve never told Dillard to file the complaint against Samuels and Huger insisted she didn’t.

She claimed she said, “If it were me, which it was not, I would press charges,” and then Dillard pursued legal action “on her own.” Huger insists she never advised the newlywed to take Samuels to court but only gave her perspective if she were in a similar situation. The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo.
