Candiace Dillard and Monique Samuels avoided each other for over a year after the former friends got into a physical altercation. They found themselves in the same room during The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5 reunion, and Dillard ran off the stage crying when discussing their fight. Samuels felt Dillard put on a performance when leaving and noted she thought it deserved an Oscar award.

Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard fell out during ‘RHOP’ season 5

After failing to repair their fractured friendship from last season, Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard ended up coming to blows toward the beginning of season 5.

Samuels noted she felt betrayed when Dillard invited ex-housewife Charrisse Jackson Jordan, someone the podcast host doesn’t get along with, to her anniversary party.

A couple of weeks later, they got into an argument during a girls’ trip to Samuels’ cabin before getting into a physical altercation shortly afterward.

While celebrating with Gizelle Bryant for an award she won at a winery; the ladies got into a heated exchange before Samuels grabbed her former friend’s hair and slammed her to the table. The Not For Lazy Moms owner also hit Dillard on the head several times until the producers separated them.

Samuels and Dillard have processed the fight differently

A week following the fight, Samuels met with the other housewives wanting to apologize for “putting them in harm’s way.” However, the podcast host admitted she didn’t feel remorse at the moment and hadn’t spoken to Dillard yet.

Therefore, they, excluding Ashley Darby and Karen Huger, who voiced support for Samuels, noted they didn’t want to hang out with Samuels until she sought help for her actions.

After their meeting, the podcast host met with the pastor and first lady of her church and recognized her triggers and where she went wrong.

Although she claimed she wanted to reach out to her former friend, Samuels said she didn’t because Dillard made it legal by pressing a second-degree assault charge against her.

The former Miss United States noted she had difficulty processing the fight because she felt physically attacked by someone she once considered a close friend.

Additionally, several media outlets leaked information from the altercation and accused Dillard of starting the fight, which she claims led to bullying on social media. After seeing a therapist, the former Miss United States began posting sticky notes with affirmations around her house to help her.h

Samuels says Dillard running off the stage deserves an ‘Oscar’

The ladies avoided each other for the remaining of the season, following the fight until coming face-to-face a year later at the reunion. The former Miss United States later began crying while discussing the altercation and noted she “can’t get over” the reports she believes Samuels’ spread, claiming Dillard “initiated” the fight.

When the podcast host began unemotionally explaining her perspective, the “I See You” singer left the stage in tears. Samuels tweeted live during the reunion and posted, “Give her an Oscar please!” when Dillard walked off to gather herself in her dressing room, implying her former friend was putting on a performance.

Several of her followers agreed with her and stated they believed the former Miss United States “taunted” Samuels throughout the show before leaving in tears. However, others noted Samuels’ dry reaction and felt she showed more “emotion” when her bird went missing.
