Wendy Osefo joined ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ during season 5

Introduced by Candiace Dillard, political commentator Dr. Wendy Osefo became a full-time cast member in season 5. She seemingly got along with everyone right off the bat, even though she and Ashley Darby initially started off rocky during a girls’ trip.

A few weeks later, former friends Dillard and Monique Samuels came to blows at a winery. During a heated exchange, Samuels pulled Dillard to the table by her hair and hit her on the back of the head several times.

The former Miss United States attempted to protect herself by swinging a broken wine glass that cut Samuels’ lip. Following the altercation, Samuels met with the other women, and they wanted her to take responsibility for her actions.

However, the podcast host admitted she didn’t feel remorse for getting violent at the time and failed to reach out to her former friend. As a result, Dillard filed a complaint against Samuels, resulting in a second-degree assault charge. The podcast host countered, slapping Dillard with the same count.

Osefo seemingly chose Candiace Dillard’s side over Monique Samuels

Except for Karen Huger and Darby, the ladies sided with Dillard and didn’t want anything to do with Samuels. During Osefo’s women empowerment event, Huger attempted to explain her side to Dillard.

However, the newest housewife interrupted the conversation and defended Dillard as well as asked Huger to hold her friend accountable for getting violent.

Additionally, Darby admitted Samuels asked her to write a statement detailing her negative interactions with Dillard, including offensive tweets and the infamous butter knife incident from last season, to strengthen her case.

Darby agreed because she’s friends with Samuels and felt like the podcast host “had more to lose” if she were to go to jail. Osefo disagreed with Darby’s choice to get involved, especially since the 32-year-old didn’t witness the fight, and felt she wrote the statement to get back at Dillard. Therefore, the newest housewife called Darby a “snake.”

Samuels describes her relationship with Osefo as ‘nonexistent’

During the Nov. 30 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a viewer asked Samuels if she thought Osefo had a right to get upset with Darby for writing the statement.

The podcast host answered she didn’t think the newest housewife should’ve gotten mad because she didn’t ask Darby to lie about anything. When it comes to the current state of their friendship, Samuels described it as “nonexistent” because they never had the “opportunity to develop a relationship.”

Even though Osefo attended the girls’ trip at Samuels’ cabin, the physical altercation happened shortly after that, and the two seemingly haven’t hung out since. Additionally, Samuels unfollowed Osefo on Instagram at some point during the season.
