After the infamous winery altercation between The Real Housewives of Potomac stars Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett, battle lines were drawn for the rest of the season. Someone never altered regarding their support of Samuels in the wake of the aftermath was Ashley Darby, which was interesting given they were at odds during a good part of Samuels' time on the show. Now that Samuels says that she will not return to the show for its sixth season, Darby has honored her friend and co-star on social media.

Ashley Darby and Monique Samuels’ dynamic on ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’

Since Samuels first joined the show in season 2, she and Darby always had a connection as two of the younger women on the cast. However, things began to take a turn and they became more like frenemies instead of friends.

During this time, especially in the early seasons, Darby caught a lot of heat from her fellow cast members for being in their business and having a lot to say about their lives. Darby noted that Samuels was drinking a lot while she was pregnant. The two fell out over this as Samuels felt like Darby shouldn’t have been questioning her, let alone bringing this up on television.

Over the years, the two eventually repaired their relationship slowly. Samuels and her husband, Chris, assisted Darby and her husband, Michael, when he was sued after allegedly groping a man. They came forward and told their side of the story and said that the incident was not on any footage.

After Samuels and Dillard Bassett’s fight, Samuels asked Darby to write a letter to help her case. Darby penned the letter, talking about the time where Dillard Bassett threw a knife at her and also spoke badly about her on social media.

It was a controversial moment as a lot of the cast members that were allied with Dillard Bassett (and Dillard Bassett herself) thought she shouldn’t have written the letter. However, Darby stuck to her guns and said that she was speaking her truth, even if it was a little bit of karma for Dillard Bassett’s actions towards her.

Ashley Darby honors Monique Samuels on social media

On Monday, following the final and third part of The Real Housewives of Potomac‘s season 5 reunion, Darby took to Instagram and seemingly acknowledged Samuels’ exit. She posted a picture with both Samuels and her husband on her Instagram story, writing “ALWAYS A LEGEND” and a red heart emoji.

Samuels stated that after witnessing the last part of the reunion, she decided that she would not be coming back to the show, even though she was offered to return.

Fans of Samuels are hoping that one day when the dust from the fight dies down, that she could perhaps join the series again.

The Real Housewives of Potomac is expected to resume filming at the top of next year and premiere late next summer or early fall.
