During the Mar. 16 episode of NBC award-winning drama This Is Us, Dr. Wendy Osefo and Monique Samuels of The Real Housewives of Potomac made a brief appearance. While the main character Kevin fed his infant daughter, he told her not to “be a Monique” as he watched the ladies argue in a scene from the fifth season. Osefo and Samuels caught the shout-out and reacted to the mention on social media.

Wendy Osefo and Monique Samuels disagreed during ‘RHOP’ season 5

Introduced to the other ladies by Candiace Dillard, political commentator Dr. Wendy Osefo joined The Real Housewives of Potomac during the fifth season.

A few weeks later, former friends Dillard and Monique Samuels came to blows at a winery following a heated exchange. After the fight, Samuels gathered the castmates, excluding Dillard, to apologize for possibly putting them in danger.

Similar to the other housewives, Osefo felt Samuels made a mistake by getting violent. Additionally, the political commentator believed Samuels’ actions cast a bad light on the Black community.

However, Ashley Darby and Karen Huger wanted to continue supporting the Not For Lazy Moms owner, while Osefo, Gizelle Bryant, and Robyn Dixon thought Samuels should show change first.

During the conversation, Osefo called Samuels out for not feeling bad about getting violent, and the former Potomac housewife admitted she didn’t “have remorse” at the time.

‘RHOP’ scene featuring Osefo and Samuels included in ‘This Is Us’

A couple of weeks after the episode featuring that scene aired, the fifth season of NBC’s award-winning romantic family drama series, This Is Us, premiered.

Keeping up with the “Big Three,” viewers followed Kate’s journey as she prepared for baby Haley, who they adopted, to join their family.

Perpetually single, Kevin decided to settle down with Kate’s best friend Madison as they welcomed twins into the world following a one-night stand.

Additionally, Randall met his late mother’s former lover, where he understood his backstory more and discovered she left him a New Orleans-based lake house for him to inherit.

The Mar. 16 episode opened with a montage of Kevin and Kate taking care of their babies as well Rebecca and Jack caring for them as infants.

While Kevin stayed up late feeding a twin, he watched the RHOP scene where Osefo questioned if Samuels felt remorse for her actions. Kevin then jokingly whispered to his baby, “don’t you be a Monique.”

Osefo and Samuels react to their cameos

Following the episode, Osefo posted a clip of the scene to her Instagram, writing, “Did you all catch my cameo on last night’s episode of This Is Us?” She also noted she “loved” the series and appreciated the shout-out.

Dillard responded to the post with laughing emoticons, calling it “hilarious.” Samuels also caught the mention and uploaded the clip to her Instagram, responding to Kevin’s comment with “yeah, because she’s petty as h*ll.”
