Mary M. Cosby landed in the middle of controversy after a comment she made on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The Bravo star was upset she was being compared to Jen Shah and in turn, said the latter was more comparable to “those Mexican people that make all those drugs.” Although the remark was made on the episode that aired on Dec. 5, Cosby didn’t address the issue at the time. It would take the church leader a week to finally make an apology following her insensitive statement.

Mary M. Cosby issues an apology

Cosby waited a week to make an apology regarding her insensitive remark that she called “wreckless.” The star posted a statement on Instagram addressing the comments she had made that offended some of the viewers.

“I would like to take this opportunity to address a comment I made on the last episode of RHOSLC,” she posted on Instagram. “I used poor judgement in my choice of words. Please accept my apologies, I was not trying to single out the Mexican culture.”

Cosby continued, “I am African American and I know racism first hand. I’ve lived it daily my entire life. It is important to me that you hear this apology directly from me. My comment was wreckless… unintentional. I am truly sorry.”

On the post, Cosby added several hashtags that included, #apologyaccepted, #makeitright, #love#latinos, #saltlakecity, #seektruth, #seeklove, and #loveyou.

‘RHOSLC’ give their take on Mary M. Cosby’s apology

It wasn’t long before RHOSLC fans gave their opinion on Cosby’s apology. The reactions were mixed with some understanding where the Bravo star was coming from, while others pointed out that the apology wasn’t timely.

“Everyone makes mistakes and says wrong things sometimes.. we are all human. We love you Mary,” a fan replied.

“I’m Latino and I don’t think you meant it in the way it came across and sounded. You were flustered with emotions and at a loss for words. Don’t let your cast members get the best of you,” a Latino follower added.

“We Stan a queen who can take accountability and admit when she’s had a misstep. I knew what you meant but I feel like In the heat of the moment you became flustered and just had verbal diarrhea,” an Instagram user said.

“An apology wrote in invitation font,” a fan replied.

“love that you took a a week to address it tho,” another fan noted.

“That will be a no from the Latino community. Thank you though,” another follower said.

“Mary this font choice is chaotic. Please issue an apology for that next,” another Instagram user commented.

“Please explicitly acknowledge the stereotype Mexicans are all gang members and drug dealers. We are also leaders and world changers,” another Instagram user mentioned.

Mary M. Cosby calls co-stars racist

Cosby’s comments and apology comes weeks after she called several of her co-stars racist. The church leader called out Whitney Rose recently due to the latter questioning her business. Rose said she has tried to be there for her as a friend but Cosby has shut the door and has not opened up to her. Following the interview, Cosby went on a Twitter rant where she went all out on Rose.

“This girl is so hungry, how dare you speak on me,” she tweeted, according to Queens of Bravo. “We are not friends and never will be. I don’t even know what this is. She’s so fake! I can’t!”

In another tweet, Cosby said, “Whitney Rose is being so hungry with her lying self. She knows she is not that girl who puts a fire out, she can’t put her own fire out! Yes, she’s racist, I said it, racist! Like her cousin, she’s talking like she knows me. She has no backbone, she’s not real. So fake! I can’t.”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Sunday night on Bravo.
