Jennie Nguyen is one of the stars of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Nguyen quickly became a fan favorite of the show during her debut in season 2. Although Nguyen is new, she has not been exempt from the drama and Mary M. Cosby is at the center of a current sensitive situation. The freshman housewife called out Cosby for racial remarks she made about her on the show and Twitter got a front-row seat.

What did Jennie Nguyen tell Mary M. Cosby?

On the most recent episode of RHOSLC that aired on Sunday, Jan. 2, Nguyen pulled Cosby aside to talk to her about an incident at her party. Nguyen felt that Cosby made an insensitive remark about her physical appearance. Cosby commented on Nguyen’s eyes, which the latter felt was not appropriate and deemed racist.

After addressing her discontent, Cosby assured Nguyen it was not a racist remark and it was not her intention to have it be perceived that way. Following the episode, Nguyen took to Twitter to put Cosby on blast as well as the bystanders that didn’t say anything.

“Racism, in any form, is RACISM!” she wrote in the now-deleted tweet that Queens of Bravo shared on Instagram. “This is what my husband and I grew up with daily. To be silent, or to laugh while someone is being racist, is to be complicit.”

In a second tweet, she added, “I hope that one day that my children, and yours, will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Let’s [sic] us use our privilege to end HATE.”

Mary M. Cosby apologizes for racial remarks

During the same conversation that Nguyen had with Cosby in front of the rest of the cast, Lisa Barlow also brought up another matter. Barlow reminded Cosby that it wasn’t the first time she made a remark that could be interpreted as racist. The public relations maven recalled the time they visited Vail, Colorado when Cosby compared Jen Shah to a “Mexican thug.”

Cosby was upset that she was being questioned about her church just as harshly as Shah who was indicted on a fraud scheme. The church leader then said that Shah was comparable to “those Mexican people that make all those drugs,” referring to the cartels.

The comment drew backlash on social media and it took Cosby a whole week to draw up a public apology, which she posted on social media.

“I would like to take this opportunity to address a comment I made on the last episode of RHOSLC,” the statement posted on Twitter read. “I used poor judgement in my choice of words. Please accept my apologies, I was not trying to single out the Mexican culture.”

Cosby also said, “I am African American and I know racism first hand. I’ve lived it daily my entire life. It is important to me that you hear this apology directly from me. My comment was wreckless… unintentional. I am truly sorry.”

Mary M. Cosby raises allegations against Lisa Barlow

Cosby has also recently fired back at her co-stars and specifically called out Barlow for allegedly mocking Nguyen’s accent.

“Meredith, so your [sic] not going to bring up Lisa Barlow doing Jennie’s accent, throughout the season? That’s all I’m saying? Where’s the Realness among these women?? At least I’m Real! I don’t care what people think of me! I have 1 Judge’ it’s none of these people judging!” Cosby tweeted.

Barlow was asked by another Twitter user if she had ever mocked Nguyen’s accent and denied Cosby’s allegations.
