Justin Roiland teases ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 5 Episode 2

The Rick and Morty Season 5 premiere pleasantly surprised viewers with a classic new episode, titled “Mort Dinner Rick Andre.” Morty made a few unexpected enemies. Meanwhile, the writers finally got to introduce Rick’s nemesis, Mr. Nimbus (voiced by co-creator Dan Harmon).

“[Mr. Nimbus] was in another episode that died,” writer Jeff Loveness said on the “Inside the Episode” special. “But we all love Nimbus so much. We were just waiting for a chance to use him.”

Despite the buzz surrounding Mr. Nimbus in the Rick and Morty Season 5 premiere, it’s possible the second episode will blow “Mort Dinner Rick Andre” out of the water. When speaking with Collider, Roiland teased what’s coming up next. And apparently, the co-creator believes Rick and Morty Season 5 Episode 2 would’ve been a strong season opener.

“Listen, I really wanted to swap two and one. Wait till you see Episode 2,” Roiland said. “I was like, ‘This should be the premiere. It’s f—ing insane.’ But it was too late to make that change.”

He continued, “I love both of those episodes, by the way. They’re so cool. I’m excited for people to see the rest of the season. Episode 2 is f—ing insane in the best way. It’s really a classic, over-the-top, Rick and Morty brain-melting episode. In a good way.”
