No one expected Rihanna and Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel to get together, especially because they appeared to be from two different worlds and didn’t seem to know each other for very long. But opposites attracted and the two began a romance. It would last for nearly three years before the pair called it quits earlier in 2020.

Neither party has said much about their split in the months that have followed. However, Rihanna seemed to gloss over it a new interview, sharing what life has been like following their breakup.

A look back at Rihanna’s relationship with Hassan Jameel

It’s still unclear how Rihanna and Jameel met. However, in December 2016, she was seen in London with a dark-haired man that many people believed was the business mogul. The two triggered dating rumors the following June when they were seen making out during a vacation to Ibiza, Spain.

Rihanna alluded to their relationship in a May 2018 interview with Vogue but did not confirm anything for months. She later told Sarah Paulson in a June 2019 chat for Interview magazine that she was indeed with Jameel and had fallen in love. The same year, she secretly left the United States and moved to London, where Jameel lives, although it’s unclear if the pair shared a home.

The relationship ended not too long after

Things seemed to be going smoothly between Rihanna and Jameel in the months that followed. There was even some speculation that they were heading towards marriage. But instead, the pair broke up. Multiple outlets reported on Jan. 17 that the Anti singer had recently split from her beau.

Details were not immediately available. But sources later told People that the split had to do with their conflicting lifestyles — which, ironically, was said to be what attracted them to each other in the first place. But given that neither of them has commented on the reason behind their split, it’s hard to say that this is what truly led to the end of their romance.

How Rihanna’s life has changed post-breakup

Rihanna told British Vogue in an interview published on March 30 that she came out of their relationship with a fresh perspective. She now has a “no-nonsense” attitude and is going for exactly what she wants.

“Since I turned 32, I’m realizing life is really short,” she told the outlet. “You don’t have a lot of time to tolerate sh*t, you know? You put so much on your plate. When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start cutting things out. And I’m overwhelmed too much. What’s happening now is that I’m going back to black and white. My grey area is shutting down.”

Rather than jumping back into the dating pool, Rihanna seems to have shifted her full attention to work, which includes her highly-anticipated ninth album, her beauty lines, and her fashion brand.

“I’m working like this now so that I don’t have to in the future,” she said.

She’d eventually like to live a happy life with “three or four” children — even if she doesn’t find that special someone. When asked if she would have kids on her own, Rihanna replied: “Hell yeah.”

“I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love,” she explained.

True that, Rih. However, we sense that finding someone won’t be a problem, as she’s got plenty of people clamoring for a chance.
