Rihanna is pregnant with her first child with A$AP Rocky

RIhanna first started dating rapper A$AP Rocky in 2020. They were seen together at events including the 2021 Met Gala, and many wondered if Rihanna would go on to build a family with Rocky.

In January 2022, Rihanna and Rocky reinvented the pregnancy reveal in the simplest way possible. They stepped outside their door and walked through Rocky’s home neighborhood of Harlem, with Rihanna exposing her belly for photographers to snap pictures.

Rihanna’s due date is unclear, but the Barbadian singer is clearly thrilled to embark on a new journey of becoming a mother. But pregnancy doesn’t come without its challenges — and its sacrifices.

Rihanna stopped drinking and smoking for her pregnancy

Besides being a bestselling musician and fashion icon, Rihanna has also been known for her love of cannabis over the years. She’s been seen rolling blunts at Coachella and at one point was even rumored to be working on her own line of cannabis products, similar to Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z.

But when she became pregnant, Rihanna had to throw weed, alcohol, and all other vices out the window to ensure that she had a healthy baby. She admitted in an interview with E! that her friends quickly caught on to what was happening when she started abstaining from those substances.

“It was harder for me to keep it from my posse, because they’re around me, they know my habits,” Rih said. “They’re like, ‘You don’t want something to drink? You’re not smoking?’ And I’m eating all the things I’m not used to eating. They know I hate sweets and I’m all of a sudden asking for cookies and donuts. But finally, I just had to let it all out, and they were all shocked, of course, as the world was shocked as well.”

Rihanna wants to have more children

It’s unlikely that Rihanna will stop at having just one child. Though it may be hard for fans to picture the “S&M” singer with several children, she’s made it clear that she wants a full, loving family in her thirties and forties.

In a 2020 interview with British Vogue, Rihanna admitted that she began thinking about motherhood after her relationship with Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel ended. Now, in her mid-thirties, Rih is ready to write the motherhood chapter of her life — and she expects it to be fuller than many people expect.

When asked where she pictured herself in 10 years, she replied: “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient,” she said. “I’ll have kids — three or four of ’em.”

Her father, Ronald Fenty, confirmed her desire to have three children to TMZ following her pregnancy announcement.
