Starting on April 6, new episodes of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will broadcast weekly in Japan. According to the show’s official Twitter, they’ll air first on AT-X at 10 p.m. They’ll play on other networks later, including TOKYO MX and KBS Kyoto.

Each installment will come to Crunchyroll soon after, meaning international fans won’t need to wait long to see what’s next for Naofumi and his companions. Crunchyroll confirmed it will simulcast the new season in the following territories: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

It’s a comfort to know fans will be able to keep up with season 2 as it unfolds. But when can viewers expect new episodes of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 on Crunchyroll?

Crunchyroll has officially revealed the release time for new episodes of The Rising of the Shield Hero, and it looks like season 2 will be available bright and early in the U.S.

New installments will drop on the platform on Wednesdays at 6 a.m. PST. Here’s what that translates to in the following time zones:

  • CST: 8 a.m.
  • EST: 9 a.m.
  • GMT: 2 p.m.
  • CEST: 3 p.m.
  • AEST: 6 p.m.

Compared to recent episodes of Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan, Shield Hero is getting a relatively early release overseas. And that’s probably for the best. After all, fans are eager to jump back into Naofumi’s story. So, what can they expect from his next adventure anyway?

What to expect from Naofumi in season 2

There isn’t much time until The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 premieres, but the series is unlikely to reveal its entire second-season plot in the first episode. Luckily, the anime’s official website offers some insight in its synopsis:

“As Naofumi prepares for the next ‘wave,’ mysterious monsters appear and at the same time the countdown to the ‘wave’ stops. Suddenly, the four sacred heroes summoned by Milleria are told that the legendary monster ‘spirit turtle’ has been resurrected.”

The trailer teases this legendary threat as well, though it doesn’t give viewers a glimpse of it. But if it’s truly as dangerous as the promo suggests, it’s likely to push Naofumi even further than last season. And that means viewers are in for another action-packed outing of Shield Hero during the spring 2022 anime season.

Naofumi and his friends embark on their next journey on April 6, 2022.
