The ‘Riverdale’ 100th episode promo teases a dead Jughead and more insanity

According to the CW’s synopsis, the finale to Riverdale Season 6’s five-part event will see Jughead (Cole Sprouse) experience a series of strange events that lead him to investigate a paradox in Rivervale. In the promo for the episode, aptly named “The Jughead Paradox,” he mentions “strange hallucinations” and seemingly discovers the existence of Riverdale in relation to Rivervale. Plus, one shocking scene shows Jughead dead in a body bag.

The 100th episode promo also teases plenty of action. Fans can see Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) back from the dead and throwing someone into a table. The infamous Black Hood Killer returns, and someone tries to strangle Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart). Even Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines), who died in season 1, is alive and well. It seems the writers pulled out all the stops for this insane event.

‘Riverdale’ cast members describe the 100th episode as an ‘explosion’

If the promo doesn’t intrigue fans, perhaps the cast’s discussion of the 100th episode will. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the stars were asked what they could tease about the mid-season finale. To sum it up: absolutely anything goes during Rivervale’s last hour.

“The 100th episode is a cultivation of the 99 episodes prior,” said Casey Cott, who plays Kevin Keller. “It explodes into a whole new world and at the same time brings us all back to square one.”

Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge, added that “nothing’s off the table” and “no one is safe.”

“Everyone’s a savage,” she said. “They’re living in this good versus evil world that brings out the worst in everyone.”

Tabitha Tate actor Erin Westbrook teased a “mind-blowing” ending, while Reggie actor Charles Melton said someone from an alternate universe will come to Rivervale to stir things up.

According to Vanessa Morgan, who plays Toni Topaz, if fans thought Riverdale was unusual and wild before, the 100th episode is “Riverdale on steroids.”

Season 6’s five-part event has definitely been a bit confusing for fans, but thankfully, Reinhart, Apa, and Sprouse said everything will make sense by the end of episode 100. However, Apa warned that fans will have to pay close attention to understand.

According to Sprouse, the 100th episode will tie together everything that has happened on the show thus far. He told TV Insider that it adds a “connective tissue between” Archie Comics and the CW’s adaptation.

“This episode does a really great job discussing why the world exists the way it does and also brings back a lot of the parts of the show that fans have really enjoyed,” he said. “There’s a lot of interaction between the cast. There’s a lot of world-building and lore questions that are answered.”
