Queen Elizabeth II’s Body Language Says a Lot About Her Relationships With Her Children, Expert Says
Though she’s such a major global figure, Queen Elizabeth II has mastered the art of keeping her private life and her personal life separate. Though she’s lived the majority of her days on the public stage and biographers and tabloids have exposed many of the intricacies and relationships within the British royal family, the queen has mostly stayed quiet about personal things.
When it comes to her relationships with her four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, the queen hasn’t said much. However, body language experts say it’s clear where the queen stands with each of her children.
Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth are seen together the most
In the past, Prince Charles has said his mother wasn’t exactly present when he was growing up. However, since then, he’s only had kind things to say about her. The pair spend a great deal of time together since the prince is preparing himself for his mother’s role.
This seems to have bonded them for life. “It’s interesting to note that their relationship is very fun and playful,” human behavioral expert Susan Constantine told Marie Claire. “When they’re together, they’re both fully embracing the moment.”

It’s been well documented that Princess Anne is very close with her father, Prince Philip. Unfortunately, there appears to be some distance from her mother. “If I didn’t know they were mother and daughter, I wouldn’t think they’re related,” Constantine explained.
Since both the queen and the Princess Royal are known for their formality, this could all be a casualty of the protocol. “Although they’re holding hands and kissing, their bodies still remain far apart, “body language expert Patti Wood explained to Good Housekeeping after seeing a photo of the mother/daughter.
Queen Elizabeth II is closest to Prince Andrew
It has always been said that Prince Andrew is the queen’s favorite. Even amid his scandalous ties with Jeffrey Epstien and allegations of sex abuse, the queen has still shielded her second-born son.
“You can see it in his eyes,” Constantine explained. “His eyes are always in the direction of the Queen, which is the way that he honors and respects her.”
In fact, the prince is so close to his mother, that it’s often challenging for him to remain formal around him. After examining one photo of the pair, Wood explained,

Prince Edward is scandal-free and generally well-loved royal. For her part, the queen dotes on her youngest child. “Her body language is screaming, ‘That’s my baby!’ Constantine explains. You can also sense the difference between Edward and Andrew. Edward is reserved like his mother and Andrew is intense and powerful.”
