Rumors Are Fanned About ‘Venom 2’ Star Tom Hardy in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Crossover After Photo Surfaces

There seems to be no end to the hype surrounding 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. Even beyond who we already know shows up, rumors have been swirling about who else we might get to see. Among these rumors is the potential appearance of one character that everyone has been clamoring for.

There seems to be no end to the hype surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home. As the third installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man movies and coming hot off the heels of Far From Home‘s shocking ending, there’s a ton for fans to be excited about. The film has only gotten bigger as more and more characters, primarily those from other Spider-Man movies made by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb, are announced to appear. Even beyond who we already know shows up, rumors have been swirling since the start about who else we might get to see team up with or try to take down the wall-crawler. Among these rumors is the potential appearance of one character that everyone has been clamoring for, and a recent photo might indicate it’s more likely than it might have seemed at first.

Right now, the information coming out about No Way Home is almost unbelievable for someone who grew up in the era of comic book movies like Shaquille O’Neal’s Steel. There’s Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin from the Sam Raimi films, Electro from Amazing Spider-Man 2, Doctor Strange from the rest of the MCU, and the distinct possibility Mephisto might finally show his ugly, red face. Even Ned, who was Spider-Man’s best friend and guy-in-the-chair in the other films, will don the Hobgoblin mask like in the comics.

Another major Spider-Man villain appear

As jampacked as the movie already is with cameos and characters, there might still be room for more. As ComicBook reported, Oscar-nominated actor Tom Hardy recently appeared in pictures wearing a hat marked with the No Way Home production logo. This has led some fans to speculate that he might appear in the movie as none other than Spider-Man arch-nemesis Venom, the role he plays in Sony’s Venom films.

While a single hat in a single picture isn’t the slam dunk proof some might think it is, it does raise some eyebrows. For one thing, Hardy has spoken numerous times about how badly he wants Venom to appear in the MCU alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. His desire, plus the countless cameos that might otherwise seem impossible, have led many to believe that the hat is a nod to this happening. It also helps that, while the MCU has remained distinct from Sony’s Spider-Man villain movies up to now, Sony does technically own the rights to the Spider-Man solo films of the MCU. This makes any legal barriers that might stand between these versions of the characters finally meeting a bit easier to navigate.

Fans still want even more characters

Even with so many iconic characters flooding the screen in No Way Home, there’s still a ton of speculation as to who else might join the party. At the top of that list are Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk from Netflix’s Daredevil. Both characters have a long history with Spider-Man and were some of the most acclaimed parts of those shows, so fans have eagerly awaited their return for years. For his part, Cox has been suspiciously cagey about confirming or denying if Daredevil will show up in the film whenever he’s asked.

Another character everyone has been waiting for is Miles Morales, the second Spider-Man of the Ultimates universe. Whether it’s an alternate universe Miles, or the one in the MCU (his uncle, Aaron Davis, was already portrayed by Donald Glover in Homecoming), fans would welcome him in a heartbeat. There are also persistent rumors about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield potentially reprising their Peter Parkers as two other Spider-Men for the movie.

Though no one can know precisely what the final film holds until it comes out, it seems like anything is possible at this point.
