‘RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race’ Welcomes Vanessa Williams to The Runway

Vanessa Williams appeared on ‘RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race’
Hot off the heels of a new episode of Season 12, RuPaul debuted the second episode of Secret Celebrity Drag Race. This time, the Drag Race alumni featured included Alyssa Edwards (season 5, All-Stars 2,) Asia O’Hara (season 10,) and Trinity the Tuck (season 9, All-Stars 4 winner.)
The celebrities this week included the outgoing actress and talk show host Loni Love, Basketball Wives’ Tami Roman, and the legendary actress and performer, Vanessa Williams. Partnered with former Drag Race contestants, these celebrities had to strut their stuff for a chance to win the title of “America’s Next Celebrity Drag Superstar.”
“I do feel comfortable onstage, and I do perform all the time, but still, this is out of my comfort zone,” Williams said. “When I signed up for doing this, I was like, ‘OK, I always like to challenge myself.’ Because that’s how you continue to learn, continue to grow — especially as I’m aging. That’s what keeps you young. That’s what keeps the fire going. It’s that uncertainty that makes it special.”
Vanessa Williams previously acted as a guest judge on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
This wouldn’t be the first time Vanessa Williams appeared on the reality series. For the spinoff series titled RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 3, Vanessa Williams appeared as a guest judge alongside RuPaul and Michelle Visage. Additionally, she was the first guest judge on season 3 of the show, which featured the All-Stars 3 contestant, Shangela.
RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race is, however, the first time Vanessa Williams put on her own drag persona. Paired with Miss Asia O’Hara, Vanessa Williams transformed into her drag persona, Vanqueisha De Haus. It was as Vanqueisha De Haus that she performed in the Rusical. She worked the runway and even lip-synced in front of RuPaul and the other judges.
This actress won ‘RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race’
After performing in the Dolly Parton-themed Rusical and lip-syncing for her charity, Vanessa Williams won the second episode of RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race. (Last week, Riverdale alumni Jordan Connor won the title.)
Thanks to Miss Vanqueisha, the charity of her choice received a donation of $30,000. She chose The Trevor Project, a nonprofit focused on the mental and physical wellbeing of LGBTQ youth.
“The celebrity addition was exhausting, thrilling, and way harder than being a judge! Thanks to my queens that transformed me and the queens that competed alongside for a fab show,” Vanessa Williams wrote on Instagram. Some fans took to social media, sharing their love for this new episode and the celebrities involved.
New episodes of RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race premiere on a weekly basis on VH1, along with new episodes RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12.
