Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh died in early 2021. His death, which came after months of battling lung cancer, was announced by his wife on air. Throughout his career, Limbaugh’s personal life remained a topic of conversation among his listeners and critics. Who was Rush Limbaugh’s wife when he died, and how many times was he married?

Rush Limbaugh’s wife announced his death

On February 17, 2021, Limbaugh’s death became public knowledge. The news spread via his radio show. Limbaugh’s wife, Kathryn, told listeners (via Fox News), “Losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life,” adding, “Rush will forever be the greatest of all time.”

Limbaugh died after a battle with lung cancer. He first made this news public in early 2020. After receiving treatment for months, he announced in October that his condition was “terminal.” “It’s tough to realize that the days where I do not think I’m under a death sentence are over,” Limbaugh wrote on his website.

Limbaugh met Kathryn Adams Limbaugh at a charity golf tournament in 2004, according to the Washington Post. She worked as a party planner in Florida, where Limbaugh lived beginning in the ’90s. After years of dating, they tied the knot in June 2010 in a ceremony at The Breakers Palm Beach, a luxury hotel, with guests such as Sean Hannity and Rudy Guiliani.

Kathryn, (sometimes referred to as Kathryn Rogers), accompanied Limbaugh when he received his Presidential Medal of Freedom from Donald Trump at the February 2020 State of the Union address. The couple had no children, though Limbaugh once said, “Marriage is about raising children. That’s the purpose of the institution” (via Boston Magazine).

He once dated anchor Daryn Kagan

Before Rogers, Limbaugh was linked to another popular commentator. He reportedly dated Daryn Kagan, the broadcast journalist best known for anchoring CNN Live Today for nearly a decade. They spent about two years together before splitting in 2006, shortly before she left CNN to start her own media company.

At the time, tabloids couldn’t get enough of Kagan and Limbaugh’s relationship. Being public personalities on opposite sides of the political spectrum brought them a lot of attention, as did Limbaugh’s ongoing scandal surrounding his prescription drug use. His April 2006 arrest for doctor shopping happened later.

What is Conservative Radio Host Rush Limbaugh’s Net Worth in 2020?

Rogers became Limbaugh’s fourth wife. During his early radio day in Kansas City, he met Roxy McNeely. They married in 1977, and Limbaugh filed for divorce after less than three years. In 1983, he wed his second wife, Michelle Sixta. As his listener base grew via his New York-based radio show, this marriage ended, too.

In 1994, Limbaugh married his third wife, Marta Fitzgerald, an aerobics instructor. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas officiated their wedding at his home. After 10 years of marriage, they divorced. Many believe his relationship with Kagan led to this divorce.
