Russell Wilson and Ciara’s Children’s Book Aims to Inspire Kids to Pursue Their Dreams
Russell Wilson has been with the Seattle Seahawks since he was drafted in 2012. As the quarterback, he has led the team to the Super Bowl twice, and won once. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl in eight of his nine seasons. His wife, Ciara, is a multimillion selling recording artist. It’s not unheard of for NFL veterans to start new ventures, or move into other jobs. Writing a children’s book, though, may be a first — and that’s exactly what Russell Wilson and Ciara have done.
Wilson and Ciara have been together since 2016
Russell Wilson and Ciara were married in July 2016, after just a four-month-long engagement. They tied the knot in England, and the ceremony was kept secret. After the ceremony, though, Wilson and Ciara shared pictures and video.
The couple has two kids together. Sienna Princess was born on April 29, 2017, while her younger brother, Win Harrison, was born in 2020. In addition, Future Zahir, who is Ciara’s son with ex-husband Future, also lives with them. He is 7. Together, the couple is very active on social media. They often share pictures of their children on Instagram. It’s obvious that they are both very happy and proud of their kids.
Knowing that, it makes absolutely sense that they would release a children’s book encouraging children to follow their dreams.
Russell Wilson and Ciara have written a children’s book
The couple is set to release a children’s book in March 2022. The book is titled Why Not You?
The book is designed to encourage children to dream big, and reach for those dreams. The book will “encourage kids worldwide to read,” say Wilson and Ciara in a joint statement. The book was inspired by their own kids, and the couple’s desire to inspire their kids to ask the questions: “Why can’t you change the world?” and “Why can’t you tell your story?” The couple says that they were both raised with the mentality that they should follow their dreams, and that “everything is possible with hard work and faith.”
They want to pass that message on to their children, and to children worldwide.
According to People, the book is linked to Wilson’s Why Not You? Foundation, which helps to empower youth. Wilson started the Why Not You? Foundation in 2014, before marrying Ciara, but she quickly became a part of the foundation as well.
The Why Not You? Foundation, according to their website, tries to “equip today’s youth with the skills and opportunities to become tomorrow’s leaders.” The children’s book is linked to the Why Not You? Foundation.
Wilson and Ciara are both well known for their philanthropic efforts.
What else are they doing together?
Wilson and Ciara are also involved in other business and philanthropic ventures. Recently, the couple finalized a deal with Amazon for their Why Not You Productions. According to Pop Culture, the couple will have a hand in developing films and series for Amazon.
The couple released a joint statement saying how excited they were about the new deal. It will allow them to expand their brand and Why Not You’s message to a much wider audience. They explained they can’t wait to work together, and are excited to share their “vision to bring inspiring stories to the world.”
Wilson and Ciara are the latest in a long string of celebrities to bring their considerable talents to Amazon. The streaming giant has already grabbed up Margo Robbie, Lizzo, Michael B. Jordan, Connie Britton, Donald Glover, Forest Whitaker, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Wilson and Ciara also became part-owners of the Seattle Sounders soccer team in 2019. They co-own the team with Macklemore, Drew Carey, and Ken Griffey, Jr. They said that they were “fired up” about the move, and were happy to continue to invest in Seattle’s future.
