Paul Rudd was recently named People’s Sexiest Man Alive and Ryan Reynolds has something to say about. The Deadpool actor was graced with the title back in 2010 and he wishes he would have taken more advantage of the honor. He doesn’t want Rudd to make the same mistake he made. Thankfully, it’s not too late for Rudd.

Paul Rudd is the 2021 Sexiest Man Alive

When Rudd was informed he’d won People’s Sexiest Man Alive, he was shocked. And he figured everyone else would be, too. He thinks of himself as a family man, not a sex symbol.

“When I think about myself, I think of myself as a husband and a father, like I’m that,” he told People. “I just hang out with my family when I’m not working. That’s what I kind of like the most.”

Even Rudd’s wife was “stupefied,” but also “very sweet about it.”

Ryan Reynolds urges Paul Rudd to make the most of his reign

Reynolds held the title of Sexiest Man Alive back in 2010. When he found out he’d won the honor he was initially in “disbelief.” “And then you kind of settle into it,” he told People. “Really, you just have to go with the flow.”

When the Free Guy actor learned that Rudd was this year’s Sexiest Man Alive, he said: “Of course [he] is.”

Reynolds, it seems, has some regrets.

“I think that this opportunity will be wasted on him like so many before him. He’s gonna play it shy,” he said in an interview on The Today Show. “He’s gonna play it bashful. Humble. If I knew what I know now, you know, I wouldn’t do that. You’ve got to seize this opportunity. If I got it now, I’m not saying I would leave my family… but they would need to go on without me. I would roam the world clutching my dog-eared People Magazine going from town to town sowing my wild oats like some sort of nude, magical gardener. It would be amazing.”

His advice to this year’s title holder: “Don’t blow this, Rudd. If you’re there, do not blow this opportunity. Run like the wind.”

Rudd is ‘going to own’ the title of Sexiest Man Alive

We don’t know if Rudd heard Reynold’s advice. But it sounds like he does plan on doing some amount of leaning into the honor.

“I mean I’m going to lean into it hard,” Rudd told People. “I’m going to own this. I’m not going to try to be like ‘Oh, I’m so modest.’ I’m getting business cards made. But all of my friends will destroy me and I expect them to. And that’s why they’re my friends.”

As for how his life’s going to change now that he’s the Sexiest Man Alive, Rudd has high hopes.

“I’m hoping now that I’ll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan,” he said. “And I figure I’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life. And I’ll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I’m looking forward to that.”
