Sandra Bullock returns to the action movie genre with her latest film, The Lost City. Before this, her most famous action movie role was in Speed. While the first Speed has a lot of love from fans, Speed 2: Cruise Control doesn’t have the same fan base. Bullock says the only way she would return for a Speed 3 would be if her co-star Daniel Radcliffe directs.

The first Speed is one of the best action movies of the 90s. The movie stars Reeves as a cop who has to stop a bus attached to a bomb. The catch is that if the bus goes below 50 miles per hour, the bomb detonates. Bullock plays a passenger who assists Reeves in keeping the bus over the speed minimum.

Critics and audiences loved this action movie. On Rotten Tomatoes, Speed has a 94% critic score and a 76% audience score. The film also performed well at the box office, grossing over $350 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. To this day, it’s considered one of the best movies in both Reeves’ and Bullock’s careers.

The sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control, didn’t get the same reception. While not a box office flop, it has an abysmal 4% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Reeves seem to have known this movie may have been dead in the water as he did not return.

Sandra Bullock will only return for another ‘Speed’ movie if Daniel Radcliffe directs

Bullock and Daniel Radcliffe co-star with each other in the new adventure movie, The Lost City. In an interview with Fox 5 New York’s Rosanna Scotto, Bullock is asked if there is any sequel that she would consider returning for to which she jokingly replies with Speed 3. Radcliffe chimes in, saying he and his friends have already thought of ideas for this.

Speed 3: Horsepower. My friends have been pitching it to me,” Radcliffe quipped.

“If Daniel would direct Speed 3: Horsepower…” Bullock joked back at her co-star.

Radcliffe responds by saying he’d “love” to direct Bullock while Bullock does an impersonation of him as a director, imagining him to be a fancy director who wears a “monocle” and “vests with lots of pockets.”

During another interview alongside Radcliffe for Toofab, the two were asked if there were any roles they were embarrassed about playing that they later came around to. Bullock says she is “still embarrassed” by Speed 2 and that no one came around to it.

“You stumped me with the fans coming around later on [part of the question],” Bullock replied. “I have one no one came around to and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called ‘Speed 2.’ I’ve been very vocal about it. Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island.”

Radcliffe tries to be encouraging, saying the film has some “cult love,” but Bullock wasn’t buying any of it.

“Very quiet. Like 5 people,” Bullock said. “Him and the other four 12-year-olds who were watching the slow boat going towards the tiny island.”

Bullock and Radcliffe star in The Lost City which is now in theaters.
