In 2010, Bullock adopted her son Louis from New Orleans, Louisiana. She initially started the adoption process with then-husband Jesse James, but the couple split that year and Bullock adopted Louis as a single mother.

Sandra Bullock jokes that she ‘occasionally’ wants to ‘kill’ her kids

Any parent can share that raising kids is not always easy. However, during a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Bullock joked with hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest about a few difficulties she faces.

“A friend of mine once said, ‘Be prepared to love and hate something so much at the same time,’” Bullock said (via People). “But there’s always a lot of love. My kids are so funny, so strange, so cool, a little too smart for what I’m comfortable for right now.”

She added, “You can’t spell in front of them anymore, you can’t sidebar because they’re listening. They’re turning into people who have opinions. And sometimes they don’t agree with mine, that bothers me. But I love them so much. I was just blessed with two pretty awesome kids. I do want to kill them occasionally, but I won’t.”

Despite the challenges of parenthood, at the end of the day, Bullock feels lucky to be able to spend time with her growing kids.

“I love who they are,” she told People in November 2021. “Every day I get to see who they are. I am one of the lucky individuals that gets to be around my children all the time and see who they get to grow up and be. And who they’re growing up to be, I couldn’t be more proud of.”

Speaking to Ripa and Seacrest, Bullock also revealed that her kids now have very distinct personalities and interests.

For example, 12-year-old Louis is now a “crazy foodie,” according to Bullock. “He started off as a mixologist, was very into mixing drinks,” she said. “Had a cocktail book, no alcohol. And then he got into making boba. So that hit the kitchen. And then it was like, he wanted to deep fry everything. Everything was coated in sugar. There’s a science of food that’s happening, but everything is food based for him.”

Meanwhile, 10-year-old Laila sees everything as “an extreme sport of danger.”

Bullock will be traveling around to promote her film The Lost City, and her children will be coming along with her. She shared that the youngsters are “pretty excited” and that she will try to find “elements” of their interests while touring “to make them happy.”
