Lovers of funny television are familiar with Kenan Thompson. He’s been on multiple shows making audiences laugh for years, and is currently on Saturday Night Live. But he doesn’t open up much about his personal life. This is who he’s married to and his wife’s reaction to not being in his new show.

The funny actor started out playing Russ in D2: The Mighty Ducks. He later appeared on The Steve Harvey Show, Cousin Skeeter, All That, and finally Kenan & Kel.

The actor continued his acting career after that and eventually landed a job on Saturday Night Live in 2003. He’s now the longest-tenured cast member ever on the show.

He doesn’t plan to walk away from his job any time soon. “I have a certain number I would love to get to,” Thompson told Variety. “I think 20 is a good, round, even number that I’m close to. I feel like that is in reach, but also it would be respected if I don’t get there. Like, 18 is fine, 19 is fine. It doesn’t really matter.”

The actor is branching out by getting his own show, which is also loosely based on his life. However, it won’t include his marriage.

Is Kenan Thompson still married?

The cast member is married to a woman named Christina Evangeline. They got married in 2011, and have two daughters named Georgia and Gianna.

She also dipped her toes in the acting pool by playing a pageant parent in Mini Supreme. Thompson talked about how quickly his life changed once he became a father.

“One day you’re not a dad, and then the next moment you are. You’re just a dad from that point on,” Thompson told People. He later joked that he changed quickly.

“And definitely, my coolness just got sucked right out of me,” he said. “I didn’t know… I didn’t even feel it, but I just immediately started wearing black socks and shorts and just being really corny at stores and over-asking questions about items that are super obvious and in my face.”

Thompson is starring in his own sitcom where he’ll be playing a version of himself. Kenan shows him being a widowed father of two daughters and getting help raising them from his father-in-law.

His wife wasn’t exactly thrilled that she is sort of killed off for the show. “She didn’t love it,” Thompson admitted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “She was like ‘So I’m dead?’ But I mean she was just giving me a hard time.”

He continued, “But I was like, ‘Yeah, I mean, it’s not you, you know what I mean? It’s–it’s a show. It’s a different thing.” Thompson noted that his character is an anchor of a morning show in Atlanta so the character is different from the Saturday Night Live star in multiple ways.

So Thompson is married but the TV version of him is a widower. Kenan airs on NBC on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. EST.
