Celebrity husband and wife Scarlett Johannsson and Colin Jost talk about “hot” kissing scenes in a hilarious new Amazon Alexa Super Bowl ad. The Black Widow star and Saturday Night Live head writer ponders what would happen if the intimate object, which is programmed to answer questions, play music, and share information could read their minds. The ad also features a truth-telling Fleetwood Mac song. The commercial will run on Feb. 13 during Super Bowl LVI.

This is the first time Colin Jost and Scarlett Johannsson have appeared in a commercial together

This ad is the first time Jost and Johannsson have appeared in a commercial together. They first worked together when Jost wrote a sketch for Johannsson almost a decade ago. She has since hosted the late-night comedy sketch series six times. The last time she took the stage at Studio 8H was in Dec. 2019 when she shared her thanks to the show for introducing her to “the love of her life.”

The couple married in Oct. 2020 and welcomed their first child together, a son named Cosmo, in Aug. 2021. Johansson is also mom to daughter Rose Dorothy.

The hilarious ad shows what would happen if Amazon Alexa read Colin Jost and Scarlett Johannsson’s minds

Colin Jost and Scarlett Johannsson star in their first commercial together for Amazon Alexa which will air during the Super Bowl on Feb. 13.

In the commercial, the couple is seen in bed together. Johannsson tells her husband “I love that we get to sleep in,” as he buries his nose in his pillow. Alexa responds to their exchange by announcing “Ordering fresh mint mouthwash. Extra strength.”

A second bit shows the couple in a kitchen, where Jost is talking. His wife appears uninterested in what he has to say, and wants to drown out his voice. Magically, Alexa turns the blender on.

In another segment, Johannson performs an acting scene where she appears to be preparing for a play. Jost asks his wife when the play opens, and Alexa subsequently sets a loud reminder to “fake his death” so he wouldn’t have to go to the show.

Jost asks his wife in a separate scene a personal question.

“When you do those love scenes with hot guys is it fun, or is it the worst?” he wonders.

Johannsson replies “It’s the worst,” as Fleetwood Mac’s 1987 “Little Lies” plays loudly in the background.

Finally, the duo is seated at an elegant dinner party. One of their guests asks if the actor made the bread. She said it was her “gammy’s” recipe.

Alexa outs the screen star to their guests, saying that “gammy” was short for “she bought it at Whole Foods.”

The electronic gadget then took a dig at Jost. “Announcement, Colin left the oysters in the car for five hours.” as their guests spit the food back into their plates.

Johannsson thinks the premise of Alexa as a mindreader is ‘absolutely terrifying’

“They exaggerated the situation that I think is grounded in the reality of couples in general,” said Jost,

Johansson admitted if Alexa could read minds the idea would be “absolutely terrifying.”

Of the commercial, the film superstar claimed that she hopes viewers enjoy it.

“Of course, you want to make sure it lands,” Johannsson admitted. “It’s a little nerve-racking, but it’s also exciting to get an audience with that reach.”
