Selena Gomez has been through quite an ordeal in the last few years. At the ripe age of 27, the Rare artist has already coped with a life-threatening autoimmune disease, Lupus. Furthermore, she has dealt with an emotionally abusive relationship, immense fame and the scrutiny that accompanies it, a kidney transplant, and struggles with both depression and anxiety. But, despite all she has grappled with, Gomez seems to be in a sweeter place.

Selena Gomez releases new album and announces makeup line

In the past few months alone, Gomez has seemingly stepped into a new age, a new era if you will. The Wizards of Waverly Place alum followed up her return to acting in The Dead Don’t Die and lent her voice acting abilities to the film Dolittle. On the music frontier, Gomez scored the first number one hit of her career with her single “Lose You To Love Me.” She followed that by finally releasing her highly-anticipated third, solo studio album, Rare. After a four year hiatus from releasing solo music, critics are calling Rare Gomez’s best album to date. But, Gomez didn’t stop there. Less than a month after she released her album, she also informed fans that she had founded her own makeup line, Rare Beauty.

Why the Rare singer has no regrets

Clearly Gomez has come out on the other side of all of her struggles and hardships. But, does she regret anything about her life thus far? In a recent interview with Dazed, Gomez revealed that she didn’t have a single regret. “No, no. I mean, there are certain things which I wish hadn’t happened to me. But without them I wouldn’t have been the voice I am for people who have gone through the same thing. You know, going through the lupus thing and the kidney transplant, I was dealing with fame and with being run-down, dealing with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues that I had. It was all a bit confusing,” the 27-year-old shared.

The impact of the Lose You To Love Me lyrics

Clarity for Gomez came after “Lose You To Love Me” released and had such an incredible impact. She realized that had she not gone through trials and tribulations she could not have created such a popular song. “When “Lose You to Love Me” came out, I stood back and had this moment, like, ‘Oh… this is a huge reason why I’ve pushed myself through this. This is why,'” Gomez revealed.

Releasing the song helped Gomez put some of her issues to rest and step into the new age of her life. “I was able to release a song that hopefully helps to heal some people, or just lets them know they are not alone. I was actually letting it go personally and when that happened something inside of me just left. And that’s why I am grateful for the chapters of my life. I’m not saying that it’s gonna be easy from now on, but I have a lot more strength and a lot more courage and a bigger voice to stand up for what I deserve,” the “People You Know” singer shared. Clearly Gomez has been able to learn from her pain. We’re sure Selenators can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
