Selena Gomez has come a long way since Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. The Texas native’s career may have started off in the acting field, but it didn’t take long for the celebrity to begin sharing her talent and passion for singing.

Her debut album, Kiss and Tell, came out in 2009 and so much has happened since. Gomez‘s fans and followers might be shocked to learn that the singing sensation has actually been off social media for three years. With that being said, many people may be wondering who has been posting to her 200 million Instagram followers. Take a look back at Gomez’s path to stardom and the details behind her Instagram account.

Selena Gomez and the Scene

Some of Gomez’s fans and followers may have forgotten that the star’s earlier days as a musician took place in a band. Of course, naturally, Gomez was the leader and at the center of Selena Gomez and the Scene, but, nonetheless, her first few albums were not independent endeavors.

Kiss and Tell, A Year Without Rain, The Club Remixes, and When the Sun Goes Down all took place during the Selena Gomez and the Scene era. The band got together in 2008, and Joey Clement, Greg Garman, Dane Forrest, and Drew Taubenfeld were the other members who performed with Gomez. The group decided to part ways in 2012, and Teen Vogue was one of the platforms that shared what Gomez has revealed about this monumental decision.

As Gomez shared an interview, “It helped me to have people who were older around me that helped guide me, and inspired me and pushed me. And there was a moment when I felt like I could do it and I wanted to try it on my own.” Gomez did just that, and she hasn’t stopped since.

Selena Gomez’s most memorable moments in the spotlight

Stars Dance marks Gomez’s first album after forging out on her own. The album included hits like “Come & Get It”. In 2014, she released For You, a popular compilation album. Her next studio album, Revival, came in 2015. “Hands to Myself”, “Kill Em with Kindness”, and “Same Old Love” were just a few of the songs from Revival that Gomez’s fans and followers went crazy over. Just over a year ago, Gomez shared Rare. Her fans and followers probably remember the impressive music video she created for “Lose You to Love Me”.

More recently, Gomez’s loyal listeners got to enjoy the star’s newest EP, Revelación. As many can tell from the title, her new music incorporates her Latin roots on a whole new level. Rolling Stones has already praised the singer for the pop music that seems to be breaking boundaries. With all of her new music and projects, it can be hard to imagine how Gomez has time to keep her fans and followers updated, and maybe that is why she simply doesn’t.

Gomez is one of the most followed people in the whole world. Her Instagram account has well over 200 million followers. Her posts consist of fun selfies, fashion-forward photo shoots, and taking a political stance. However, on that note, how is it possible that in her interview with Vogue Gomez recently admitted to being off the internet and social media for three years?

Well, in this case, as the saying goes, she gets by with a little help from her friends or, more specifically, her personal assistant. Gomez sends photos and texts to her assistant who in turns posts them to the star’s Instagram and Twitter accounts. Though many people often accuse the celebrity of lying, she has confirmed that this is indeed the truth.
