Among the notable female pop artists who’ve been making music for the last several years, Gomez and Grande stand out. Both have, at one point or another, held the title of the most-followed woman on Instagram. Gomez initially held this distinction, but Grande surpassed her in 2019.

While they don’t appear to run in the same circles, both Grande and Gomez have shown support for the other. “Thank you @ArianaGrande for telling them you don’t belong to nobody but you. Finally. Preach girl,” Gomez tweeted in June 2015 after Grande and Big Sean split.

Similarly, Grande wrote on Twitter months later, “i love nothing more than seeing young women doing what they love & kicking a** at it.” Gomez retweeted this, adding, “Amen.” Don’t forget this exchange because it’s about to come back around.

Grande co-wrote Gomez’s song with Blackpink, ‘Ice Cream’

Over on stan Twitter, there have been rumors that K-Pop group Blackpink was teaming up with one of two pop artists: Grande or Gomez. Finally, on August 11, 2020, Gomez and Blackpink announced their upcoming collaboration, due out on August 28.

On August 21, with one week to go, Blackpink and Gomez revealed the title of their song together, “Ice Cream.” What’s more, a producer Grande often works with, Tommy Brown, tagged Grande in a post about it, writing, “produced and written by me and some of my awesome friends.”

If that news wasn’t exciting enough for Selenators and Arianators, Grande herself shared the news. “Proud of the squad and so excited for this, she wrote in her Instagram Story. “so much love for this team and these ladies.”

Gomez then brought back Grande’s words from five years ago. “Thank you @arianagrande,” she responded. “I love working with talented strong women who kick a** and support one another.”

Ariana Grande’s 2020 net worth is hard to top

After first gaining attention as an actor, Grande propelled that into a singing career. She released her first album, 2013’s Yours Truly, and followed it up with four more well-received albums, all of which brought impressive streams and sales.

But where Grande really shines are her live performances. Her sold-out Sweetener World Tour in support of her last two albums, Sweetener and Thank U, Next, made her the highest-paid female pop star of the year. Grande is worth a reported $150 million as of August 2010.

Gomez’s career hasn’t been quite as linear as Grande’s. Since leaving Disney’s Hollywood Records, the artist has put out just two albums: 2015’s Revival and Rare in 2020. However, her work on film and behind-the-scenes as a producer sets her apart.

As of August 2020, Gomez’s net worth is estimated at around $75 million. But she has many projects in the work that should increase that, from her HBO Max cooking show Selena Gomez + Chef to her upcoming Hulu comedy with Steve Martin and Martin Short. And “Ice Cream” certainly won’t hurt it.
