Like most celebrities, Seth Rogen typically keeps his salary for each project to himself. As a multi-hyphenate star, he stays busy, from producing The Boys to hosting a podcast to appearing in Pam & Tommy. Undoubtedly, Rogen makes a lot of money these days. But it hasn’t always been that way.

Seth Rogen is known for an extensive catalog of comedies. But he got his start in the humble venues of stand-up. As he rose to fame, he started doing a lot of work with the same group of real-life buddies: James Franco and Jonah Hill among them. Jay Baruchel, a fellow Canadian actor, became quite close with the crew, turning up in several of Rogen’s projects.

Baruchel and Rogen formed a tight-knit friendship. While discussing their film This Is the End, Barchuel called Rogen “incredibly dear to me.” “I’d go so far as to call him blood, by virtue of the fact that I’ve known him since I was 18,” he told HuffPost. “There’s a familial thing there.”

Jay Baruchel had high hopes for his ‘Undeclared’ salary, says Seth Rogen

Baruchel and Rogen met when the former auditioned for Undeclared. “The screen test was the first time I hung out with him,” Rogen explained in a 2022 Wired Autocomplete Interview. Rogen was hired as a writer for the sitcom created by Judd Apatow after Freaks & Geeks was canceled.

“I remember him explaining to me that his favorite movie was Fight Club, and if he got the show, he was gonna buy a Ferrari,” Rogen explained.

“I think he was greatly underestimating the amount of taxes we would be paying in relation to our salaries at the time,” he laughed.

While the salary may not have been enough for a fancy car, it was one of the shows that gave Rogen a chance to practice his writing skills as well as stretch his acting wings. Unfortunately, it received similar treatment to Freaks & Geeks regarding its early cancelation. Undeclared lasted just one season.

Since those early days, Rogen has gone on to some substantial earnings. His net worth is estimated at around $80 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. In addition to his writing and acting earnings, Rogen also started a cannabis company called Houseplant.

As The Things reports, Rogen has commanded multi-million-dollar salaries for several appearances. For The Green Hornet, for example, Rogen received $6 million. Neighbors, meanwhile, brought Rogen another $1 million. One of the most controversial projects Rogen has taken part in was The Interview, a movie about interviewing a North Korean dictator. While Rogen admits he wished he had “had a couple more meetings about that one” before taking part, he still went home $8 million richer.

Of course, Rogen’s business savvy likely means that he’s getting profits from his films long after the filming ends, and his substantial net worth is a testament to his ongoing fame and popularity.
