HBO Max has officially greenlit the Sex and the City reboot, and the three main cast members who are returning to reprise their roles are being rewarded with a pretty penny. The reboot series, which is entitled And Just Like That… has been speculated about for years, but production for the show is supposed to officially begin in Spring of 2021. But just what will the series be about? And how much money will the main cast members be making for reprising their iconic roles?

Sex and the City first premiered back in 2004 on HBO. Spanning six seasons and 94 episodes, the show broke barriers by showcasing womanhood in new ways. The show followed four friends (Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbs) as they attempted to navigate life, love, and happiness in New York, NY. The four friends didn’t shy away from talking about sex, careers, love, romance, partnership, etc., and the characters’ unique and individual perspectives appealed to a large audience.

Kim Cattrall is noticeably absent from the ‘Sex and the City’ reboot

In fact, Sex and the City was so popular that it generated enough support for an eponymous movie in 2008 and a sequel entitled Sex and the City 2 in 2010, further catapulting the four main stars into superstardom. Even now, 17 years later, the show has enough support to warrant a reboot. Unfortunately, not all four members of the cast will be reprising their roles in the reboot.

Fans of Sex and the City will be saddened to know that Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the original series, will not be returning for the reboot. Rumors that Cattrall clashed with the other main cast members have run rampant for years, but Cattrall has shared that the women have always maintained a professional relationship and seems to remain cordial with her former castmates.

The cast of ‘And Just Like That…’ is receiving a huge salary per episode

Though Sex and the City fans will undoubtedly feel Cattrall’s absence from the reboot, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Davis, and Cynthia Nixon have expressed tons of excitement about the upcoming HBO Max revival. In fact, all three women will star in and serve as executive producers for And Just Like That... The new series is slated to consist of 10 half-hour episodes that will follow the main characters as they seek to navigate love and friendship in their 50s.

If fan reactions weren’t enough to make the cast of the Sex and the City reboot excited, their enormous salaries are sure to do just that. Variety has reported that Parker, Davis, and Nixon are all set to make over $1 million per episode of the reboot. This enormous payday even usurps the paychecks that the cast of Friends received in later seasons. All six stars of Friends famously received $1 million per episode for seasons 9 and 10 of the show.

Will the HBO revival of ‘Sex and the City’ live up to fans’ expectations

Clearly, there’s plenty of interest for the Sex and the City reboot if each of the main cast members is receiving a $10 million payday for merely acting in the show. We certainly hope that the show lives up to fan expectations, but only time will tell.
