‘Sex and the City’ Fans Are Dismayed by a Reported ‘And Just Like That…’ Storyline Leak

'And Just Like That...' is officially in the works. Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York have been spotted on the streets of New York. While Mr. Big has been missing thus far, a leaked script seems to explain why. A divorce storyline could be on the horizon, but fans aren't happy about the development. Still, there is hope.

And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City reboot, began filming just days ago. As was expected, a series of photos from the show’s early filming has already hit the internet. While fans expected pictures from the streets, they never expected to see a script from the series so early on. A leaked photo seems to suggest that Carrie Bradshaw and her husband, Mr. Big are no more. The rumor has gutted fans. Most loyal viewers were anticipating something a bit more interesting than relationship drama for their favorite Manhattanites.

An alleged script from ‘And Just Like That…’ suggests Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big are divorcing

On July 15, Page Six exclusively reported that a divorce storyline was in the works. The publication shared a page from a script for the Sex and the City reboot. The photo was taken during one of several scenes shot in New York City this week.

In the scene, Carrie is having lunch with Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes, and Stanford Blatch. The single page from the script has Carrie bemoaning the state of her marriage, claiming that she was just “one of the wives he was taking care of.” Page Six claims that the scene indicates a divorce is imminent, but fans aren’t getting that from the short passage. Even if a divorce isn’t happening, the snippet shows that things aren’t good between Carrie and Mr. Big.

Admittedly, this isn’t the first time rumors have swirled that Carrie will, once again, be heartbroken. Several months ago, rumors swirled that Mr. Big would be headed to prison for white-collar crimes, freeing Carrie up to rekindle things with her other big love, Aidan Shaw. John Corbett, the actor who portrayed Aidan for several seasons, confirmed his involvement in the project back in April. HBO Max has neither confirmed nor denied the rumored storyline.

‘Sex and the City’ fans hate the idea of Carrie and Big being on the rocks, yet again.

If it’s legitimate, the leaked script would be a concrete peek into what has become of Carrie and her main love interest, Mr. Big, for the reboot. After everything they went through, the notion of the pair divorcing doesn’t sit right with some fans. It is not for the reasons you might think, though.

While Sex and the City has a loyal following that believes Mr. Big and Carrie were meant to be, some newer fans see through the charade and think the couple was doomed to fail. Their relationship ending would certainly be the most realistic way to cap off the on-again-off-again romance. A divorce, however, to some fans, seems exceedingly dull. If the script is legitimate, and the pair are embroiled in a bitter separation, fans just hope something juicy caused the rift, and cheating isn’t juicy enough.

Fans don’t need to panic just yet; the leaked script could be a red herring

While the script leak certainly seems to point to distress in Carrie and Big’s marriage, the scene might not mean anything. It might not even make it into the show. Because the production team has long utilized the streets of Manhattan as their set, they have had to get creative to keep storylines under wraps in the past. The same is likely true this time, too.

During the filming of Sex and the City 2, Kim Cattrall was spotted in a wedding dress, leading fans to wonder if the commitment-phobic Samantha Jones was finally walking down the aisle. The wedding gown scene never made it into the flick. The team likely filmed the scene to throw fans off. The nature of this leak, with a script sitting in clear view of inquiring eyes, seems to indicate it could be a strategic leak.

Still, we cannot say for sure if the storyline is real or not. HBO Max has been tightlipped about the limited series from the start, and they don’t appear interested in changing tactics any time soon. Fans will likely need to wait until the series is released to find out what, if anything, happens between Carrie and Mr. Big.
