The HBO hit Sex and the City originally ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004, leading to two feature films, Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010). Castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon announced on their social media channels that a reboot of the television series, titled And Just Like That… will air on HBO Max in the future, making fans go wild with the news.

Since these three actors have portrayed these iconic characters for over a decade, we couldn’t help but wonder… how would they be paid for the spinoff show, sure to be a hit for the streaming service?

What will the reboot be about?

The teaser trailer showed various b-roll shots showing New York City. Since Manhattan itself was basically its own character in the original series, it makes sense that the first clips would show viewers that before any big character reveals.

Along with the scenic shots, someone — presumably lead character, writer Carrie Bradshaw, played by Parker — types away on a computer. The text reads: “And just like that… the story continues…”

The spinoff SATC series will show Carrie, Miranda Hobbes (Nixon), and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Davis) navigating the city and their friendship group in their 50s. The original show followed the women in their 30s, going through career and relationship drama while living a glamorous life in the city.

How much will the stars make?

The three lead actors will definitely be compensated well for their work on the reboot for HBO Max. After all, they’ve been portraying this friend group since 1998.

Parker, Nixon, and Davis will each earn $1 million per episode in the spinoff show, according to multiple sources for Variety. Because the miniseries And Just Like That… will be 10 episodes, the show’s stars will all make at least $10 million total from the reboot.

Who will be involved in the spinoff?

While fans flocked to celebrate the spinoff show announcement, many also expressed their disappointment that Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones would not be returning for the reboot. But if Samantha had returned as a character, Cattrall would have wanted to be replaced with a Woman of Color.

In response to a fan comment on her Instagram about Cattrall not being included in the spinoff, Parker said that she will miss Cattrall and her character. “We loved her so,” she said.

The official show’s Instagram account is only following Parker, Nixon, and Davis for now in terms of actors, so the return of other favorite characters is still unknown. But with more than a decade between 2021 and the last time we saw these characters in 2010, there is plenty to catch up on with Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte alone. We can’t wait to see what these three women are up to in the world of And Just Like That… and how much they’ve grown up since then.
