Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw have a solid relationship on Sex and The City. Aidan represents everything that Mr. Big is not. Aidan is kind, uncomplicated, and always says exactly what he’s thinking. Meanwhile, Big is cold, distant, and keeps sending mixed messages.

But Carrie, who has always preferred a challenge, ends up pining for Mr. Big in the end. Still, it’s safe to say that Carrie and Aidan had something special as well.

But according to John Corbett (who plays Aidan,) as much as he likes Carrie and his character together, he thinks them ending up together would have ruined Sex and the City’s legacy.

Can Carrie and Aidan rekindle their relationship in the ‘Sex and the City’ reboot?

According to Us Weekly, the big plan for the third Sex and the City movie was that Mr. Big was supposed to die of a heart attack early on in the film. And although they scrapped the third Sex and the City movie, we couldn’t help but wonder… will Big die in the reboot?

And because John Corbett (who plays Aidan) has confirmed that he will be in several episodes on the reboot series, does this mean that there is a chance for Carrie and Aidan to become a couple after all this time?

It’s possible, sure, but that doesn’t mean that the actors necessarily want it to turn out that way. According to Corbett, he doesn’t think Carrie would be happy with Aidan. Instead, he thinks that she was destined to end up with Mr. Big.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Corbett was asked how it felt to learn that Sarah Jessica Parker was “Team Big.”

“Selfishly, I like my characters to win,” he said of Aidan getting Carrie in the end. “But no,” he continued. “There’s no other way for that formula to go down except for with Mr. Big… It wouldn’t have been a good show if she ended up with (Aidan.)”

He continues, saying that although Aidan and Carrie loved each other, they have different values and want different things out of life.

“I don’t think she would’ve been happy living with Aidan!” Corbett says, according to The New York Daily News. “Do you? I don’t think so. I think she needed to end up exactly where she ended up.”
