Shailene Woodley’s acting career gained a lot of momentum back in 2008 when she took on the role of Amy Juergens on The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Woodley played the part of a young teen mom learning to navigate high school while parenting. However, as some of Woodley’s fans may already know, her acting debut came much before that.

Fans and viewers of The O.C. probably can remember Woodley as Caitlyn Cooper, Marissa’s little sister. Since then, the rising star has been cast in countless titles and productions. However, there is so much more to Woodley and her passions. Take a closer look at how Woodley uses things like sleep and astrology to help her successfully manage her projects, successes, and, most importantly, mental health.

Over the years IMDb has outlined the actress’ remarkable journey and career, and simply put, Woodley is quite a successful and busy gal. The celebrity’s recent interview with Shape shed a lot of light on Woodley’s current whereabouts and passion projects. In addition to making strides in her acting career, the well-known star has made it a point to focus her efforts on sustainability as well.

With that being said, when making so many monumental moves, it can be all too easy to feel burnt out. Luckily, Woodley has a solution for that.

Sleep is one of the tools that Woodley uses to help manage her time and well-being. The actress shared that she has been able to change her life by prioritizing her rest and making sure she gets enough sleep each night.

Astrology was another asset that Woodley revealed has greatly helped her on the star’s journey. In Woodley’s discussion with Shape she explained, “It’s simply a tool to give ourselves permission, to accept ourselves and understand ourselves more.” Eliminating judgement and enhancing a sense of acceptance can go a long way. As Woodley put it, “self compassion is key.”

How Woodley spent her time during the global pandemic

Woodley has always had a bit of a reputation for marching to the beat of her own drum. For instance, the incredibly popular celebrity actually still uses a flip phone and chooses to forgo having a significant social media presence like many of her fellow Hollywood stars. Plus, Woodley is well-known for love for the environment and once even referred to the Earth as “her religion”.

Woodley’s time during the global pandemic was a testimony to the celebrity’s unique, caring, and ambitious nature. While most of the world was binge-watching Netflix series and learning to make bread, Woodley was turning a dream into a reality.

The actress’ eco-friendly attitude has put her on the radar of many, including Thomas Kimber. Kimber is the founder of Karün, a company rooted in sustainable eyewear.

Instead of doing all of the typical and average activities that flooded social media feeds like TikTok during the global pandemic, Kimber and Woodley decided to team up for an extra-special project. The actress headed to South America where the pair collaborated on a shared vision. Using ocean plastics, Kimber and Woodley were able to create a new opportunity with a new collection.

Woodley’s fans and followers have been loving her eyewear collection from Karün, and so many others are thrilled the star had the opportunity to make such a positive impact. Especially considering it almost didn’t happen.

In an interview on The Tonight Show Woodley shared why she almost was forced to leave before she and Kimber even had the chance to get started.

When Woodley finally arrived in Patagonia and the officials took her temperature, they were alarmed to discover she had a fever. Given the times and the circumstances, they insisted Woodley get back on the plane and head back home.

However, luckily, Woodley was able to explain that she did not have a fever but was actually just overheated from wearing one of her turtlenecks. Hopefully, Woodley is now able to laugh about the potential miscommunication that could have possibly derailed her whole trip and vision. Woodley definitely seems dedicated to making the world a better place and, fortunately, sleep and astrology are just some of her tricks & tips that have helped her along the way.
