‘Shark Tank’ star launches the Mark Cuban CostPlus Drug Company

Cuban has been vocal about the high cost of pharmaceutical medications and created a company to provide consumers with affordable products.

“We started Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company because every American should have access to safe, affordable medicines,” Cuban wrote in the company’s mission statement. “If you don’t have insurance or have a high deductible plan, you know that even the most basic medications can cost a fortune. Many people are spending crazy amounts of money each month just to stay healthy. No American should have to suffer or worse – because they can’t afford basic prescription medications.”

The tech guru identified some in-demand medications such as Albendazole, which treats hookworm and affects many disadvantaged populations in the United States. Cuban is now offering certain drugs at a huge price cut for those in need.

“Our goal is to dramatically reduce the cost of drugs like Albendazole, but we also think that it is just as important to introduce transparency to the pricing of drugs so patients know they are getting a fair price,” the Shark Tank star explained. “Every product we sell is priced exactly the same way our cost plus 15%, plus the pharmacy fee, if any. When you get your medicine from Cost Plus Drug Co., you’ll always know exactly how we arrived at the price you pay.”

Cuban added, “We started this company as an effort to disrupt the drug industry and to do our best to end ridiculous drug prices.”

Daymond John gave props to Mark Cuban on ‘Mogul Monday’

John often shares personal updates online as well as motivating messages to encourage aspiring business owners. The FUBU founder took to social media to spotlight his co-Shark on what he calls “Mogul Monday”.

“Gotta shine a light on my guy, fellow Shark @mcuban for #MogulMonday this week,” John wrote on Instagram. “If you haven’t heard this news yet, Mark recently launched his pharmacy company which offers medication at standard pricing rather than up-charging as many other companies do.”

The fashion CEO noted Cuban’s ingenuity in providing consumers with a beneficial platform that could improve health and possibly save lives.

“This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this,” John remarked. “I believe Mark is going to inspire a trend of other entrepreneurs and companies thinking about what’s right instead of thinking about their dollars every once in a while!⁣”

John ended off with a little levity, saying, “Don’t ever tell anyone I said this Mark, but I’m proud of you 🙌🏾”
