As someone who’s targeted often, she and husband, Mark Consuelos, have each other’s backs. In the last few years, internet trolls have become increasingly more brazen, doing their best to split the happy couple up. Here’s what we know.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have an enviable marriage
In true Hollywood form, Ripa and Consuelos have the kind of relationship most of us covet — and it doesn’t appear to be just for show. Not only does the power couple put their affection of full display, but they also won’t apologize for it (nor should they).
After more than two decades of marriage. Ripa and Consuelos keep things fresh, as their social media documentation shows. For Ripa’s birthday, the Riverdale actor transformed their Manhatten home into a full-fledged white gardenia garden, topped off with a surprise visit to Ripa’s set on Live With Kelly and Ryan.
Likewise, Ripa never misses an opportunity to brag about her life partner. Her Instagram page is full of “thirst-trappy” photos of her husband. With a love story that began in the ’90s on the set of All My Children acting opposite one another, followed by three kids and plentiful good times later, this duo makes for an easy target online.
Ripa and Consuelos troll each other online
Both Ripa and Consuelos take their social media games seriously. If Consuelos posts a clip previewing the next episode of Riverdale, leave it to Ripa to be among one of the first few comments.
“I post conspiracy theories the government doesn’t want you to know about,” Ripa posted on one of her husband’s recent clips. “Don’t follow me if you don’t want to MASTURBATE”
In other posts, Ripa often calls Consuleos “Daddy,” in which some fans don’t love. Luckily, Ripa is a queen clapping back, shutting down any troll-like behavior as soon as it’s posted.
All in all, Ripa and Consulos love and support each other in real life, and online and it seems to bother a few unhappy critics.
Why do some want the happy couple to break up?
Everyone’s a critic these days. When it comes to the anonymity of the internet, it’s easy to say things without regard for others’ feelings. Just because Ripa and Consuelos are celebrities, in a loving relationship, doesn’t mean some of the mean-spirited comments don’t bother them.
One glance at both Instagram pages and it’s clear not everyone is a fan of the couple.
“Man, it’s not enough for her to have her own Instagram, she usurps yours then has an article posted about her laying in bread,” one person commented on a photo of Ripa lying in bread.
“I guess @kellyripa needs ALL THE ATTENTION and nobody else can have any! I know how narcissists roll. The word in Hollywood about her ain’t as perfect as she thinks she is.”
Another took the time to lament over Ripa’s on-air behavior.
“I have to say though that you constantly interrupt Ryan whenever he starts to tell a story. You put ur hand on his arm and he stops talking and you talk. I know it’s a talk show with 2 people but for once I would love to hear his whole story without constant interruptions!”
Of all the things people have said, frequent digs on appearance, age, weight, and physical changes seem to be the focus. Aside from making Ripa and Consuelos feel bad about themselves, not much could be gained by comments like those.
We’re not sure why anyone would say things thinking it might break the couple up. Celebrities are people, too. And though Ripa makes it a point to call those people out, we hope some of those behind their computers stop and think before the next time they post.
