Should Meghan Markle Reconcile With Her Family for the Sake of Baby Sussex?

As royal fans are all well aware, Meghan Markle is no stranger to family drama. Ever since her engagement to Prince Harry was announced, Meghan has unfortunately been going through a rather difficult time with her half-sister, Samantha Grant.

To make matters even more complicated, she has been estranged from her father, Thomas Markle since her wedding. Meghan and Prince Harry have had quite an exciting year. Not only did they officially become husband and wife, but they are expecting their first child any day now.

The question on many people’s minds is since Meghan is currently in the midst of what should be one of the happiest times of her entire life, should she reconcile with her family for the sake of baby Sussex?

What exactly is going on?

Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha, has not made things easy for the duchess. She takes to social media on a regular basis, saying negative and hurtful things about her younger sibling, seemingly for no reason at all. At one point, Samantha made a trip to London to visit Meghan, however, was turned away by palace security.

While it remains unknown what Samantha planned to speak to Meghan about had she been allowed in, she did leave a note with security asking that it be delivered to the duchess.

How about Meghan’s father?

Initially, there did not seem to be a problem between Meghan and her father. He does live a far distance from his daughter, residing in Mexico, however, he spoke to Harry several times by phone. Thomas was even planning on traveling to England for Meghan and Harry’s wedding so that he could walk his daughter down the aisle on one of the most important days of her life.

After an incident involving staged paparazzi photographs, as well as some health issues, it was announced at the last minute that Thomas would not attend the wedding, and he and Meghan have not spoken since.

Is Meghan close with anyone in her family?

She certainly is. Meghan is famously close with her mother, Doria Ragland, who just recently arrived in England so that she would be with her daughter for the birth of the new baby. Harry is close with Doria as well, having formed a strong bond with her since the beginning of his relationship with Meghan.

The mother-daughter duo has always had a great relationship, and are likely to spend even more time together when baby Sussex finally arrives.

What is all the drama about?

It is actually pretty unclear what the drama is about or why it started in the first place. Some people feel that Samantha is jealous of her sister, while others feel that she is trying to use Meghan’s role as the wife of Prince Harry to get attention.

Whether or not there was an actual incident that occurred between the two sisters, resulting in the drama, is anyone’s guess at this point. 

Should Meghan reconcile with her family for the sake of her new baby?

This is a very personal decision that only Meghan and Harry can make. It would be wonderful for baby Sussex to be able to know his or her maternal grandfather and aunt, however, we realize that Meghan needs to do what she feels is best for herself, Harry, and the baby.

Chances are, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have privately discussed the matter, and have taken all aspects of the situation into consideration.

Although there is no way to know how they feel, we do know that Meghan is an extremely intelligent woman who is sure to make the right decision. We know that Meghan is completely focused on doing what is best for Baby Sussex, and she is sure to do just that.
