Performance-based reality tv shows come and go, but Simon Cowell seems to be a staple among all of them. It’s hard to forget a time when the reality TV star wasn’t providing his candid, albeit sometimes surly, criticism to hopeful performers. But, Cowell is certainly a lot more than a television personality. In his career, he’s held down copious job titles including, but not limited to, judge, entrepreneur, businessman, talent manager, producer, and A&R executive. Cowell has found incredible success juggling all of these different careers, and he has an astounding net worth to prove it.

American Idol

Cowell has been working hard for decades, but he quickly became a household name when he served alongside Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul as one of three original judges on the hit television show, American Idol. Cowell quickly became known for his no-nonsense attitude and his straightforward critiques. Cowell served as an American Idol judge for eight long years, and his net worth increased substantially due to his time on the show. Though his salary fluctuated over nine seasons of the show, mostly due to salary increase negotiations, according to the Wall Street Journal, he averaged around $30 million dollars per year.

Simon Cowell created The X-Factor

Despite making a pretty penny, Cowell decided to move on from American Idol. Though he was already set for life, Cowell opted to create his own television series under his production company, SYCOtv. The show, which is based in the UK, is wildly successful and has helped launch the career of several artists, the most famous of which are, of course, One Direction and Fifth Harmony. But production money isn’t the only thing that Cowell is raking in from the show. He also serves as a judge on the show which helps increase his paycheck significantly. In July of 2019, Forbes reported that Cowell brings in an eight-figure check for the show, which added a substantial amount to his net worth.

America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent

But, there’s plenty more money where that came from. Cowell is also the creator of both Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent which are both wildly popular in their own right. Though Got Talent has spin-off shows in over 70 countries, Cowell’s production company is the force behind the two most popular shows. Cowell also serves as a judge for both shows and again brings in an eight-figure check for each show which pushes his overall net worth over the edge.

One Direction, Fifth Harmony, and Camila Cabello

Cowell’s shows have been instrumental in launching two of the biggest musical groups of the decade, One Direction and Fifth Harmony. Though the groups have since disbanded, Cowell’s production company still represents Camila Cabello. Cabello has seen tremendous success as a solo artist and her sophomore album, Romance, is set to release sometime this year. As Cabello’s success and fame continue to rise, so does Cowell’s net worth.

Noah Cyrus

But Cabello isn’t Cowell’s only star on the rise. SYCO also represents Noah Cyrus, the younger sister of Miley Cyrus. Cyrus recently stunned fans with one of her latest singles “July”, which was heartbreakingly beautiful. But this was far from Cryus’ first hit. She also captivated audiences back in 2016 and 2017 with “Make Me (Cry)”, “Stay Together” and “Again.” Cyrus is truly one to watch, and clearly Cowell discovered that early on, thereby increasing his net worth once more.
