Sister Wives follows the lives of Kody Brown and his four wives. For years, fans have long assumed Kody’s first wife, Meri Brown, would be the wife to leave the plural marriage if someone were to go. While that prospect still appears to be on the table, based on TLC’s recent sneak peek of the upcoming season, she isn’t the only family member who might be looking for an escape. Is it possible that Sister Wives’ upcoming season could culminate in two wives walking away from the lifestyle?

Meri Brown admits that she can’t make Kody love her

Meri and Kody’s relationship drama is no secret. The couple has repeatedly hashed out their troubles on television ever since Meri’s 2015 catfishing scandal. Things, however, seem to be getting worse. In the trailer, Meri noted that she and Kody have neither romance nor sex, because that’s reserved for people who are in love. If the duo isn’t in love, why are they keeping up the pretense of staying together, some fans have questioned.

Some family followers believe the drama is manufactured for television. In contrast, others think the pair basically live separate lives and haven’t publicly admitted that she is only a family member for filming. Either way, fans would really like to see Meri leave and succeed on her own. In fact, fans argue that they’d happily watch a spinoff featuring any one of the wives if she were to walk away from the plural lifestyle.

Christine Brown longs to go home to Utah

In TLC’s sneak peek of the upcoming season, fans were surprised to find the normally upbeat Christine Brown struggling. Christine, who married Kody in 1994, appeared to have some trouble in 2010, after Robyn Brown joined the family, but had seemed to have found her footing. In fact, she seemed to be the sister wife who was most onboard with polygamy.

Something must have happened when the cameras stopped rolling, though. Christine, in a trailer clip, reveals that she wants to move back to Utah. In a different scene, she sobbed that she didn’t think she could continue her marriage with Kody. People was quick to point out that Kody, too, seems pretty much done with plural marriage.

Will Christine and Meri leave Kody behind?

Will the two wives leave their husband and plural lifestyle behind? It’s hard to say. While each has expressed a desire to get away, it appears that both are being held back by their religious beliefs. That’s not to say it won’t happen, though. Both Christine and Meri have their own income and have family members who have left the lifestyle.

Christine, in particular, has a strong support system that no longer practices polygamy. Both her mother and her aunt have left plural marriages. Christine’s aunt, Kristyn Decker, has been particularly outspoken about the dangers of polygamy and her journey out of the lifestyle. Decker has also spoken openly to Radar Online, about the Brown family.

Meri, who has spent the most time away from her famous family, has developed a strong network of friends, too, if her Instagram posts are any indication. Along with working with LuLaRoe, Meri also owns a successful inn in Utah. Will the two leave Kody this year? Probably not, but some fans believe the marriages are probably not going to last much longer than that.
