Sister Wives fans are being treated to the first tell-all episodes in several years. To close out season 16, TLC has opted to sit down individually with Kody Brown and each of his four wives, and they are holding absolutely nothing back. Kody, however, has no interest in discussing one topic. He doesn’t wish to talk about the demise of his first marriage. He said that there was nothing to talk about regarding his marriage to Meri Brown

Kody Brown and Meri Brown became estranged back in 2015, but their problems started long before that

Meri and Kody have been estranged for more than five years. Last year, the couple admitted that their relationship had fallen apart in 2015. Initially, they claimed the relationship was destroyed after Meri was caught up in a catfishing scandal. Kody has been adamant about the fact that he is unlikely to ever get past Meri’s emotional affair. Their ups and downs have been documented on Sister Wives.

During the most recent tell-all interview, Meri dropped a bombshell that sheds new light on her emotional affair and calls into question the timeline she and Kody have long stuck to. Meri revealed that she and Kody had ended their intimate relationship years before she started corresponding with other people. When tell-all host Sukanya Krishnan questioned Meri about intimacy, she revealed that the romance had left her marriage more than a decade ago.

Kody Brown said there is nothing to talk about regarding his marriage to Meri Brown in ‘Sister Wives’ tell-all special

Kody’s marriage to Meri has been a hot topic for several seasons of Sister Wives. Over the last several years, he was willing to at least entertain the subject. That is no longer the case. When Krishnan asked Kody about his marriage to Meri, he stated that there was “nothing to talk about.”

Diving slightly deeper into the topic, he revealed that he and Meri, who he legally married in 1990 and then divorced in 2014, were nothing more than friends. Both have admitted that they rarely see each other and don’t speak often. In fact, Meri said she had interacted so little with her family throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that they wouldn’t have even known if she had gotten sick.

There doesn’t appear to be any hope for a reconciliation

Meri Brown appears to be hanging on to the hope of reconciling with Kody. He doesn’t seem to see that as a possibility, though. During season 16, Kody made it clear to his first wife that while she’s waiting for him to come back, he has no intention of doing that. Simply put, if she’s waiting for the romance to reenter her marriage, she is likely to be waiting a long time.

With no hope of reconciliation, fans are curious about why Meri chooses to stick with the Brown family, despite a loveless spiritual marriage and a distant relationship with most other members of the alternative family. Some viewers wonder if the small business owner is having difficulty accepting the end of the life she envisioned. Other Sister Wives fans theorize that Meri is hanging out in Flagstaff out of spite. It’s hard to say who could be right. One thing is for sure, Meri and Kody’s loveless relationship was the push Christine Brown needed to walk away. Christine was similarly rebuffed by Kody but opted to leave her marriage and seek a fulfilling life in another state. She currently lives in Utah.
