‘Sister Wives’: Where Do Kody Brown’s Marriages Stand With Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn
Sister Wives fans know that Kody Brown and his third wife, Christine Brown have officially called it quits. But what about his other three wives? How are Kody’s relationships with Meri, Janelle, and Robyn? Here’s what we know.
Christine and Kody
Kody’s third wife, Christine posted her official statement on Nov 7th revealing she would be leaving her marriage. The Sister Wives star wrote, “Kody and I have grown apart, and I have made the difficult decision to leave.” The statement continued, “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family.”
Kody and Christine were married spiritually, not legally, for over 26 years. There have been many signs that Christine was unhappy in her plural marriage. In the trailer for Sister Wives Season 16, Christine wanted to move to Utah, going against Kody and her sister wives’ wishes. After selling her home in Flagstaff, Arizona, Christine and her daughter, Truley, have been residing in Murray, Utah. She bought a $1.1 million duplex and
Meri and Kody
The relationship between Meri and Kody has only gotten more distant throughout the seasons. Their relationship was on a rapid decline after she and Kody divorced legally in 2014. The divorce caused Meri to feel insecure when the family when through a restructuring, when Kody married Robyn legally three months later in order to adopt her children.
Also, while Meri is technically still living in Flagstaff with her estranged husband, she’s been spending most of her time in Utah. Since Meri’s mother passed in March 2021, she has been in Parowan, Utah, taking over her mother’s role as innkeeper for Lizzie’s Heritage Inn. Many Sister Wives fans believe that Meri will be following Christine’s lead and will be leaving Kody. Though she’s yet to announce her split officially, fans know it would be nothing more than a formality.
Janelle and Kody
Kody’s second wife, Janelle has been in a spiritual marriage with Kody since 1993, just three years after Kody married Meri. While Janelle can be considered one of the most level headed of the wives, she admitted in March 2021 that she still takes her marriage one day at a time. She even confessed that she still gets jealous of Kody’s relationships with her sister wives, even after 20 plus years of marriage.
Speculation that Janelle and Kody’s relationship was on the rocks was when she announced on social media that she was living in an RV during the summer. Which coincided with the Sister Wives Season 16 trailer dropping. In the trailer Janelle expressed being upset with Kody spending more time with Robyn due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
An insider told Us Weekly that Janelle and Kody’s relationship is more of a friendship. The source claimed, “They have a respectful relationship.” Also, the insider said, “She’s really easygoing and goes with the flow.”
Robyn and Kody
In 2014, Kody married Robyn legally after four years together. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kody admitted that he was spending the most time with her. This clearly caused for jealousy to arise, causing many issues with the other wives. Kody adopted Robyn’s three children from her previous marriage and the two share two children now. In March 2021, Kody revealed to Us Weekly that he’s open to having more children with Robyn.
As of now, Robyn and Kody appear to be the strongest couple of all of the plural marriages in the Brown family. A source told Us Weekly, “The other wives can’t compete against Robyn.” The insider said, “She has him wrapped around her finger. … They’re still very much in love.”
It’s confirmed that the end of Christine’s relationship with kody will be featured on Sister Wives Season 16. While many fans think that his marriages to Janelle and Meri could be on the rocks, fans will have to watch season 16 to find out the truth. Sister Wives Season 16 airs Nov. 21 on TLC.
