Since season 16 of Sister Wives wrapped, most of the Brown family has fallen quiet. While everyone else is catching their breath, one of the Brown kids is happy to chat about life inside the polygamist family. Paedon Brown, the son of Christine Brown and Kody Brown, has taken interviews and answered questions on TikTok. Paedon even told fans that his father has a job outside of the family’s TLC reality show. So, what does Kody Brown actually do for money, and why doesn’t he ever mention it on Sister Wives?

Why doesn’t Kody Brown ever mention another job on ‘Sister Wives’?

Paedon Brown dropped a pretty big bombshell on his TikTok event. The 23-year-old insisted that his father does, in fact, have a job outside of the family’s reality TV show. Fans of the series long assumed Kody did little outside of filming the family’s show, as a traditional occupation hasn’t been mentioned in the more than 10 years the family has been on TV.

Sister Wives viewers know what Kody’s four wives do for money outside of the show. Both Meri Brown and Christine Brown have been heavily involved with LuLaRoe in recent years. Robyn Brown launched a now-defunct jewelry business, and Janelle Brown has dabbled in real estate.

So, why isn’t Kody sharing his occupation? According to Paedon, it has been mentioned on Sister Wives before but elicited negative reactions. Because the mysterious career path is controversial, Kody hasn’t mentioned it again. Paedon didn’t reveal whether that was Kody’s decision or if TLC asked him not to bring it up again.

What does Kody Brown do for a living?

While Paedon refused to say exactly what his father does for a living, citing concerns about the controversial nature of the occupation, fans think they’ve figured it out. Several Reddit users believe the father of 18 buys and sells firearms and ammunition to supplement his TLC paycheck.

One Reddit user pointed out that Kody was listed as the president of a firearms and accessories store in Utah. According to public records, Kody founded the business in 1997. The business has since been shuttered. That doesn’t mean he’s completely out of the industry, though. According to several family followers, Kody has also been spotted at gun expos in recent years.

Will there be a season 17 of Sister Wives’?

Season 16 of Sister Wives was an emotional rollercoaster for the Brown family. It was also likely the season that fans found themselves most invested in. Now that Christine Brown has officially left the family, fans are clamoring to know if another season is on the horizon.

3 Questions ‘Sister Wives’ Fans Want Answered in Season 16

Rumors suggest the Browns are already filming, which could mean viewers will get a season that is closer to real-time than the most recent seasons. What that season will entail, however, is anyone’s guess. While viewers watched Christine kick Kody to the curb in season 16, they did not see her sell her home and move back to Utah, although most fans are aware it has happened. Presumably, a new season would cover those events.

TLC has not made an official announcement. That’s not uncommon, though. TLC generally does not announce new seasons until shortly before they air. When a new season could be released is anyone’s guess, but it likely won’t be before the fall, at the earliest.
