Meri Brown has a troubled relationship with most of her famous polygamist family. Over the years, TLC cameras have captured the Sister Wives star battling it out with a few of her sister wives and her husband. The family’s book, Becoming Sister Wives, even spoke of drama before TLC came calling. Meri’s Instagram also tells a story. If her following list is to be believed, her relationships aren’t any stronger in the present day than they were a year ago.

Meri Brown isn’t following her sister wives or many of the Brown kids

Meri may have more than 700,000 followers on Instagram, but she’s only following around 200 people. With such a short following list, you’d think she would reserve some spots for her supersized family. While Meri is following a few of her family members, the vast majority of the Brown clan didn’t make the cut.

Meri has opted not to follow Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, Kody Brown, or Robyn Brown. She also isn’t following the majority of her sister wives’ children. The only Brown kids that made her list are Hunter Brown, Ysabel Brown, Aurora Brown, and Mariah Brown.

Hunter is Kody’s son with his second wife, Janelle. Ysabel is Christine’s daughter, and Aurora is Robyn’s child from a previous relationship. Mariah is the child whom Meri shares with Kody. Meri is also following Audrey Kriss, Mariah’s partner.

Does Meri Brown’s Instagram activity really mean anything?

One could argue that Meri has opted not to follow her famous family for a completely innocent reason. Some fans even suggest she doesn’t have to follow them on social media because she is aware of what is going on in their lives through other channels. Still, it’s easy to see how Meri’s Instagram decisions tell the story of her family life.

Meri has repeatedly admitted that she is largely estranged from Kody Brown. And in season 16 of Sister Wives, she acknowledged that she was largely ignored by the rest of the family, too. In fact, Meri suggested that no one in her family would know if she was ill because they rarely spoke and never saw each other.

So does the Instagram following list mean anything? It might, but then again it might not. Some fans, however, are convinced that her decision to follow only select Brown children is incredibly telling. In fact, they argue the lack of follows is more important than her decision not to follow her sister wives.

Season 17 of ‘Sister Wives’ has not yet been announced

Meri has been spending the weeks since Sister Wives Season 16 wrapped documenting her travels on Instagram. Her former sister wife Christine Brown has spent her time on a solo project. With so much movement, fans can’t help but wonder whether the family’s TLC show will get yet another season.

While TLC has not officially announced the 17th season, rumor has it that production is underway. If the film crew is really on hand, fans might be treated to another season sooner rather than later. For now, rewatching old episodes and catching up with the Brown family via social media will need to suffice.
