‘Sister Wives’: Rumors Suggest Meri Brown Will Announce Her Split From Kody Brown Any Day Now

'Sister Wives' fans are awaiting news of a second separation in the Brown family. Now that Christine Brown has opted to leave Kody Brown behind, fans are convinced Meri Brown will be next. If the rumors are true, they won't have long to wait.

News that Christine Brown officially split from her husband, Kody Brown, didn’t exactly shock Sister Wives fans. It also didn’t exactly sadden them. Most fans who have watched the Brown family on television have been patiently waiting for some of the ladies in Kody’s life to walk away. Still, Christine isn’t the only one of his four wives that viewers feel he has mistreated and taken for granted over the years. Most fans would like to see at least one more wife step away from her plural family. That wife is Meri Brown, Kody’s first wife. She is also the only one of Kody’s four wives who has the legal ex-wife title. If rumors are correct, Meri won’t be far behind Christine with an official public announcement.

Rumors are swirling that Meri Brown will announce a public split from the Brown family soon

Christine isn’t the only sister wife who has been unhappy in her marriage in recent years. Following Christine’s Nov. 2 announcement on Instagram, the rumor mill has kicked into hyperdrive. Rumors are now swirling that Meri’s public announcement won’t be far behind.

An anonymous source who alleges to be close to the family told Us Weekly that Meri’s announcement will be coming in short order. These aren’t new rumors, though. Theories about Meri’s place in the family have circulated for years. So have stories that she left the Browns years ago and is just maintaining a public relationship for the sake of the show, which serves as a major income stream for the supersized family.

Meri Brown’s split announcement would be nothing more than a formality

While fans are hoping for official word from Meri that she has split from Kody, the announcement would, technically, be nothing more than a formality. Neither Kody nor Meri have been shy about the state of their marriage in recent years. In fact, both have made it clear that they have absolutely no romantic relationship and rarely spend time together.

In February 2021, Kody and Meri revealed that they were spending almost no time together and that they had no romantic relationship to speak of. Neither seemed particularly interested in reigniting that spark, either. Fans have assumed they were separated for several years, and their statements in the lead-up to season 15 of Sister Wives all but confirmed it.

Why hasn’t Meri announced a public split from Kody?

There is one question that still weighs heavily on the minds of Sister Wives fans. They can’t help but wonder why, exactly, Meri hasn’t announced a split from Kody publicly yet. According to a source speaking to Us Weekly, it’s possible that Meri was concerned about how a public separation would affect the family’s TLC contract.

By the looks of it, that’s not a concern any longer. Christine has made it clear that TLC will feature her separation storyline on an upcoming season of Sister Wives. Season 16 of the show is slated to begin later this month. Fans largely assume the bulk of the split storyline won’t be featured until a later season, though. TLC has not announced its plans for the show in the future.
