Meri says her marriage to Kody isn’t a ‘full marriage’

When asked why Meri is still with Kody, she explained, “I see value in our family. I see value in all the relationships. I know that things don’t fix or heal if you walk away.” She tells the cameras, “I have gone how many years without any relationship with Kody, and I get really fed up with it sometimes.”

Kody reveals, “So Meri and I haven’t even been in a full marriage for about five years, you know. She went through a catfishing experience. I thought she was going to leave. Even on our last anniversary, I just kind of made it clear to her that we probably weren’t getting back together in a full marriage. I mean, I’m not kicking her out. I’m just letting her know where the relationship with me is at.”

Kody says that their relationship is friendly, not romantic

On the Nov 28 episode of Sister Wives, Kody and Meri meet up to discuss their family’s future. Kody had already talked to the other three wives before he consulted Meri. After their discussion, Kody told the cameras more about their relationship.

He said, “At this point in my life, this relationship is basically where I have an amiable [sic] relationship with her with no desire or interest in a romantic relationship. And I don’t know how we’re going to continue moving forward. But now we’re actually in a much better relationship. It’s just not romantic.

Meri is grateful to get small gestures from Kody

Meanwhile, Meri is just thrilled that Kody even came to her house to talk to her. She said, “Can we just hold on to the fact that he said he wanted to talk to me? I don’t care what it’s about, but the fact that he wanted to talk to me about something. Yeah, I’m there.”

She also was ecstatic when Kody made her a s’more during their family bonfire night on their Coyote Pass property. Meri told the cameras, “Kody made me a s’more.” She revealed, “I’m going to tell a secret, I saw Robyn tell him to make it for me. And I’m OK with that ’cause he still made it for me.” Despite this, Meri seems content with the fact that she and Kody’s marriage is platonic. She said, “We’re mean to have each other’s backs.”

When asked why she stays in the relationship, Meri says she’s received “a confirmation from God” to remain in her marriage. She said that sometimes the relationship dynamic gets to her, and it is challenging. However, she’s hanging in there after over 30 years together. She said, “This is a very conscious choice that I’m making.” Fans can watch more of Meri and Kody’s relationship on Sister Wives Season 16, airing Sundays on TLC.
