Saturday Night Live premiered its new season on Saturday, October 2. As many viewers know, the NBC sketch show always spoofs whatever is happening in politics and pop culture. There was no bigger viral moment than what happened on the set of The View on Friday, Sept. 24 when two co-hosts walked off the set during the live broadcast. SNL poked fun at the moment when Owen Wilson hosted the show.

‘The View’ turns into ‘The Talk’

SNL has famously parodied The View over the years with cast members of the comedy show impersonating the co-hosts. However, in the spoof about the positive COVID cases, they set up the sketch in a fictional daytime talk show called The Talking. The actors featured in this sketch included Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Heidi Gardner, and Ego Nwodim as the co-hosts.

As the co-hosts discuss their “Hot Topics,” Wilson enters the set wearing a lab coat. He approaches Gardner’s character to tell her that her coronavirus (COVID-19) test came back positive. Wilson’s character said that it had to be done on live TV as “we either can’t tell anybody or we have to tell everybody, no middle ground.”

The positive cases on The Talking came as they prepared to interview the Pope, imitating that The View intended to interview Vice President Kamala Harris.

“It looks like Didi had a breakthrough case, it happens,” Nwodim’s character says. “Obviously, we all have been vaccinated dozens, dozens, dozens of times.”

The sketch goes on to remove the other co-hosts for other positive test results.

Ana Navarro reveals her COVID test results were false positives

Since the moment from The View went viral, Ana Navarro took to Instagram to update her fans. The political commentator revealed that her test results had been false positives and had been tested multiple times after the first result.

“I’ve tested negative twice since the original positive test and quarantining in a hotel in New York waiting for the results of a third test,” Navarro posted on Instagram. “Before I travel or before I do anything, it was very important to err on the side of caution, because it was about the vice president’s safety.”

The CNN contributor also made an appearance on the cable news channel to talk to friend Anderson Cooper. Navarro revealed that none of the co-hosts had contact with Harris, who was in the building getting interviewed.

“They’re trying to figure out what is the safe way to conduct this interview and how do we do this? And I’ve got to say, her team rolled with it. It was crazy,” Navarro explained on CNN about what happened after she talked off the set. “[Harris] ended up doing the interview from that room via remote while we were locked up in our dressing rooms, waiting for the test results that we took.”

After Sunny Hostin and Navarro walked out of the set, Joy Behar and Sara Haines were left scrambling. The latter two ended up taking questions from the audience to fill up airtime. Harris appeared during the last block of the show and appeared remotely, despite being in the same building.

The View airs weekday mornings at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
