Max Mercer wished for a Christmas without his chaotic family. Unfortunately, this character got his wish. In 2021, Disney+ created its original version of the iconic 1990s film, Home Alone

Home Sweet Home Alone featured a new cast of characters and even a new composer behind the original soundtrack. Here’s what we know about this recently released holiday movie.

This character loves microwave dinners and watching old movies. It’s been several years since fans met the scheming and creative Kevin McCallister with Home Alone. This holiday movie (and its sequel) starred Macaulay Culkin as the troublesome Kevin McCallister, who discovered his family accidentally traveled to Europe without him.

In 2021, Disney released its reimagined version of the ’90s classic with Archie Yates in the role of Max Mercer. Home Sweet Home Alone also stars Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Ellie Kemper and Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson. There’s also a new musician behind the Disney+ original’s soundtrack — Debney.

Debney is the artist behind several other holiday classics. That includes the Halloween favorite featuring Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker, Hocus Pocus. He partnered with Netflix for the 2020 Christmas-inspired film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and scored the iconic Will Ferrell film Elf.

‘Somewhere In My Memory’ is included in the Disney+ ‘Home Alone’ remake, ‘Home Sweet Home Alone’

The Home Sweet Home Alone soundtrack, now available on the music platform Spotify, features 15 new songs. Most of those songs credit Debney as the primary composer. Of course, the Home Sweet Home Alone version of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” included Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as a writer.

There’s also an updated version of the iconic Home Alone track, “Somewhere In My Memory.” This song appears in the background of the Disney+ original movie. The album credits Debney, Home Alone’s composer John Williams, and Leslie Bricusse as the primary songwriters.

Other soundtracks created by Debney, including the Princess Diaries, 2016’s The Jungle Book, and 2021’s Clifford the Big Red Dog, are available on this streaming platform.

Williams returned to orchestrate the Home Alone sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The Home Alone “Main Title” continues to be a favorite holiday track of viewers, with over 20 million Spotify plays.
